Oh boy!
:campfire:
I didn't even get out today .
Where's the rest of the story ?
man. thats a pretty arrow!
Was a pretty arrow! Our opener was today too, I did not get a shot. I cant wait to see the pic of yours!
Bisch
NICE! Now let's see more pics.
I had seen nothing for the first 2 hours of my sit other than squirrels and a marsh hawk. 7 o'clock came so I had stood up in my climber stand in anticipation. I caught movement to my right and saw that a buck was coming in, following the track I had walked in on. I knew he was a 2.5 year old and that he was a legal buck. He stopped 5 yards from the base of my tree. He acted as though he knew something wasn't right but the wind was perfect and he never looked up. He continued by me and when he got about 12 yards beyond me he was quartering away. I drew and released. The bow was quiet and the arrow flew straight, burying up to the fletches an inch or two higher than I was looking. But, I knew my broadheads were sharp and I knew I had still hit him well. He ran 80 yards or so and I heard him crash. I quickly found my deer.

I'll take some better pictures on the morning.
I didn't shoot a deer last year. I didn't even have a deer in range last year. That makes this one very rewarding.
Very nice!! Congrats

Way to get it done .

Congrats on the nice whitetail.
Congrats! Well done!
My dream is to take a deer with a self-bow, might get a chance this year hopefully!
Congrats on a beautiful buck!
Congrats, good job. I wasn't hunting to far from you this morning and I saw 2 bucks chasing a doe fawn around.
nice job!!!! who made your arrows? they look outstanding!
I made the arrows, quiver, arm guard, bow, and string myself. I love the process of making and preparing my own gear. That really amps up the satisfaction when it all comes together. The shafts are Sitka spruce. Next I might need to make my own trade points.
Well done.
Awesome hunt thanks for sharing!!! I'm going out tonight hope I can repay the story with a story
Congrats Eric!!
Outstanding.
Very nice, well done.... :clapper:

Those pics look pretty good.
Nice work and set up. Thanks for sharing.
Nice work! Last year I only drew my bow once, and I never released it...
This year I've already had 3 close encounters... no shots yet, but the year is going better for sure.
Congrats and thanks for sharing!
Well here is my setup. The bow is a 67" (because my new edge sander took a nasty bite out of one end) 54@28 Hill style. I draw it to about 29.5". It is narrow 1" at fades nd 3/8" at tips, and deep stacked with high taper rate(.660 and .010"/") The first time I had it on the scale it was 70+@28 so after losing 2 inches it took a lot to get it down to the 50s and keep it straight and true. I rounded every corner on this bow.
It is ambrosia maple veneers with walnut core lams and a Birdseye maple riser. It is a sweet little shooter.

Still showing some blood I missed.
String is 8 strand double served D10

I called it Curculionid after the family of beetle that causes the ambrosia maple.

The arrows are 70-75 30.5" BOP Sitka spruce. They shoot 235 grain Grizzly Kodiak broadheads well and weigh around 660 grains.

The quiver and arm guard work well and I have no plans to change them but they are crude at best. Good enough for who it's for though.

I use an American Leathers Buffalo Big Shot.
The knife is made by a good friend. It is the first knife from Duke Harley Originals and the only cocobolo he'll make because it gave him some nasty rashes.
