I started this season out sitting over a century old white oak. Is has been a great spot for me over the dozen or so years that I have hunted this farm.
Not a very good pic, but you get the idea.

Sounds like this is gonna get good
About 30 minutes after legal shooting light, I had a lone, mature doe come in. I shot her at 17 yards. The hit was perfect, so I just sat back to enjoy the morning.
About 30 minutes later, a young doe came bounding by me. I looked behind her and thought I saw a coyote running away. I looked back and there was another coyote standing 15 yards away, facing directly away from me. I came to full draw, and released my second perfect arrow of the morning! I knew the shot was good immediately.
I got down and made the short 60 yard recovery on my doe.

Sorry for the blurry pic. I was a little excited knowing that I had just arrowed my first coyote in 35 years of bowhunting!
I took care of my doe, then started slowly tracking the coyote. It made it about 100 yards before expiring.

To say I was excited would be a great understatement! What an incredible start to a new season. I just turned 50 three days ago.....happy birthday to me!
I was using my A&H ACS 64" 43@27. Shooting Beeman Centershot 600s with 3 blade VPA 125s. What a great shooting combo!
Superb morning indeed. Doe 'n Dog is a great combo hunt. Nice!
That's awesome! I have only been bowhunting about 30yrs, and heve never shot a yote either. I hope I get one before 5 more years passes by!
Congrats on the double! Musta been that bad azz string on that bow you were shooting!
Bisch
Happy belated birthday, nice shooting, congrats on the doe and the yote......
thanks guys! This was only the 2nd coyote that I have ever seen while hunting in the East. I shot at the other one while it was running about 20 years ago with my longbow. He won that round.
Well done, congrats :campfire:
Nice job!
Wow, that's pretty cool!
That's a nice combo Allen!
Congrats!

Last year I shot my first coyote.. a few minutes a does stood in the same spot.

Very fine morning. Congrats!!
Exciting! Nice shooting.
Niiice. :clapper: Congrats on the mixed double.
I'm 0/3 on dogs. One of these days I'll connect.
Love the color on that coyote great morning and congrats on that nice doe!! Great shooting
Great opening morning Allen! Congrats on both kills!
Congrats
Thanks everyone. I am going to have the 'yote hide tanned as a gift to my son. The past two years at adenton hill, he has bought an otter pelt and a white arctic fox pelt. He is excited that dad just added to his collection!
Congratulations on the doe. That takes the pressure off for the season. I have seen several but have not shot at anything yet.
I'm 0/1 on coyotes. I only got 1 shot, and it was about 65 yards away. I Put the arrow a bit short, missing him by a foot or so. I wouldn't ordinarily shoot at this distance, but on a coyote I'll make an exception.
Great morning!
Congrats again, Allen! I love seeing all you guys finally getting to join the party!
:clapper: :clapper: :clapper: well done.
Congrats.
Great hunt! Congrats to you!
Now that's an opening day! I hope to get one some day. Congrats
Well done Allen, excellent on the song dog-maybe more fawns next year. Meat and fur-what more can one ask for.
Both great trophies but boy I sure would like and eastern coyote. Congrats.
That is a good opening morning, congratulations!
Ok so 43 pounds is enough? Congrats on a great morning.
Great job. What a day. I've never shot a coyote with my bow either. That's stealthy.
Happy belated birthday, and congrats!! That's a great opening morning for sure.
Congrats Allen.
The Dacron string you made me a couple of weeks ago worked this morning.
Fabulous morning Allen.
Thank you for sharing.
Good start! Congrats!
Awesome stuff from an awesome guy. Folks if this isnt proof enough that manageable draw weight bows can get it done I don't know what is.
I agree completely Chuck! After my arm injury, I was frustrated to have to drop so much draw weight. It's all about shot placement.
The arrow on my doe buried up the the fletching. I have to go back to look for the arrow from the yote. It entered just in front of his right ham, and drove up through him.

Awesome Alan! That's a gorgeous coyote! Congratulations. And wow only a 43# bow! Didn't think such that light of a bow could do that! Wow :p (kidding) I do know of a thread you can post that on! Great job man!!
Oh and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
Wow!!! What a great way to start the season. Congrats.
Excellent!!!
Allen, what riser and grip on your acs ?
Mine is the 3D-H riser. I have had a few others in the past. I am really liking this one.
Sometimes it just all comes together. Congratulations. :clapper: :clapper:
Great job. Congrats! I shot at my first coyote last year, my arrow flecthing smimmed the top of his head when he whirled around. I was looking at his eyes when I shot,woops... :)

Congrats Allen! That WAS a good morning
Way to go Allen! Congrats on a perfect opening morning. I would love to get a yote with the longbow, never know when the opportunity arises!
I would like to take the next yote or fox pelt I get tanned and make a bow-quiver myself, that would be awesome
Awesome Buddy!

Awesome morning brother, congrats again!!!
That's an exciting day on stand! Congrats
I'd have both the hides tanned and memorialize that hunt with a nice quiver using parts of both hides. That's a pretty cool hunt!
Congrats, Great Morning indeed. Happy B Lated B Day
Happy belated Birthday my friend. Way to kick the season off in style.
:archer2:
Happy Bday and great shooting! Congrats to all 3.
Good job!! That looks like a big dog, and they are harder than deer to get drawn on!!

Maybe a little luck also.....
Congrats Allen on a great opening day brother
The first coyote I saw was around your neck of the woods, crossing the road, about 2000 or so. Thats a pretty coat on that one you got.
Theyre so bad in Amherst, where Im from, that theyre eating all the turkeys, young deer, and ground hogs. I used to see plenty of ground hogs around home in the summer back in high school, but the other year, I couldnt buy one in that same area.
Well done Allen!
A great opener indeed !
awesome hunt!!!
Awesome Allen
Way to go Allen!!
The string had nothing to do with it. I've seen him shoot and he ain't too bad. And he does it left-handed to boot. Good job Allen. Way to start the season.
Hey A.S. what happened to the Lynx?? Bill
Thanks again everyone! What a great feeling after making a couple great shots to start the season!
Bill, so many bows....so little time.... :)
I resemble that remark.... Congrats again Allen.
Congratulations! Coyotes are on my list. I have shot at them but never connected. Good shooting.
Gilbert
Wow,thats a good morning congrats
Way to go! Great job on Mr. Wil E. Coyote.
