Guys since I think us hardcore Trad guys are probably using ground hunting techniques the most of any hunting style, do you prefer a swivel chair or a stationary chair seat?
I voted yes but I'm usually in a hammock seat so it's more like a complete turn than a stationery swivel.
I've got a strap-to-tree thing. Very nice to rest my old bones in, but you're pretty limited to shooting lanes being on the ground. Takes some thought to set it up effectively.
Swivel - yes. Squeak - no. Therein lies the rub.

Yep dang squeaks well --let's say that issue has been eliminated. Perfect world.
Definitely swivel!!!!
Bisch
swivel for sure- my millennium swivel seat is great light weight no noise.
When I am going to sit and know that I am going to stay put, I use a Huntmore, so does my wife. We hunt anywhere from a half mile to a mile and a half from where I can park. I am also using a Big Jim tree leaner this year. When I am still hunting I use a Nifty seat. Seats that make me sit low that do not swivel, make my butt wrinkle when I twist on the seat, I hate that.
I only have a couple of ground locations that I hunt, and a swivel would not be useful due to the surrounding terrain. However, if a swivel would be beneficial and didn't squeak, I would want one, but I would not consider it essential.
Definitely prefer the swivel.
Chad,
I voted Swivel because I have two that do swivel. One is a hard plastic stool that adjusts height with a round seat and a cushion that is Velcro to hold it on.
After an hour I hated it but did use it cause it swiveled but noisy.
A few years later I was sending p.ms back and forth to Mike Mitten and he told me how much his Dad liked the Huntmore 360 and it was comfortable as well .
That p.m. we shared made up my mind to try one so my wife bought me one for my birthday about 7 years ago I believe.
I know many folks "Have" complained about the cost, the weight, and where it was made and I just want to say opinions were many.
I noticed a small squeak in mine and Scott Hoffman was kind and quick to send me a new set of washers,Bigger wing nuts with a bigger handle, new back support and quick detach seat clips.
He explained in detail how to maintain the seat and lube it each year. I have enjoyed the swivel so much that I can slowly turn or move it without a squeak and sit for a day with a little break if need be.
Now since Scott has closed the business down and I don't think anyone is still making them I thought what would be the perfect seat that is Light weight, quick to set up, built like a tank, made to last for years and affordable?
I would try another brand JUST to compare to my Huntmore if it was compatible to the Huntmore.
Do you have an idea up your sleeve Chad ?

Well I have been working on a design for over a year now. Have one model built but didn't love everything about it so I went back to the drawing board. The new chair IS built like a tank my goal is to have it-
-Light
-Quite
-Super Comfortable
-Quick Set up
-Adjustable leg height
-Swivel
-Back pack incorporated into the back of it. Small storage, can be removed but does not have to be.
-And incorporate different accessories one might want like a bow holder Etc..
The hard part I have been having is getting it all in the same package!! Add options weight goes up, etc.
Chad,
I am really glad that you are looking into a seat and I myself have been reading posts and threads for years here and there are many things to consider that's for sure. I'm going to send you a p.m if that's o.k.?

Please do thx
I lube my swivel seat with vegetable oil. Doesn't make a sound.
Looks like 80/20 rule applies yet again!
Huntmore 360. Only weighs 1.5# more than the other popular seat and doesn't squeak.
Huntmore look so awesome. A big resounding yes on swivel seat for me.
No swivel for me.......Waldrop Pac-seat.
I voted yes...if not...limited range of motion for a shot.
I have a Waldrop and love it...for what it's designed for...I know it can't swivel....but if it could it would be that much better
Swivel if I'm in a popup blind, period.
If a natural blind, 65% is Waldrop 25% swivel and 10% on cushion sitting on earthen seat dug into steep bank.

+1
it's heavy, and it's not cheap. BUT, it's extremely well-built, extremely comfortable, and extremely quiet. perfect chair for my blinds.
A swivel chair is not best in many of my applications.
Often times a waldrop type seat positioned low to the ground enables me to move quickly and silently to my knees to optimize repositioning. The seat has been quickly folded and moved completely out of the way. The quarry is often times on top of me with little notice and the tight quarters may require me to shift to a different position in the blind as the game is virtually on top of me.
Have harvested most of my game from my knees while resting on my heals....I am a fan of swivel seats where applicable.
I employ the use of both types, however utilize the waldrop for most hunting setups.
