Title: Glassing Surprise
Post by: Randy Strickland on September 22, 2016, 05:16:00 PM
Went out to glass the land I get to hunt this morning. Season is quickly approaching. Got out 45 minutes before sunrise, coffee and clif bar in hand. Waiting for the first light to peak over the horizon. Once it did, I grabbed my crappy old binoculars and looked to the edges of the tree lines. As I squinted to to focus in the dark morning, two blurry figures move along the bottom of my lenses. I quickly drop my binoculars to see two small dark, furry, woodland creatures crossing 10 ft. in front of me.....oh, and they had a long, white stripe flowing all the way down their back. Two young skunks, 10 ft away!

Not sure if there's a moral here or not. Just got the scare of my life this morning. And a good laugh....after I slowly backed away and changed my underwear of course. Haha. Good luck this season!

My wife got the s*** scared out of her a couple weeks ago while taking the trash out. One walked about 5 ft from her across the back yard! She came barreling through the back door almost tearing it off the hinges!! Funniest thing I've ever seen!

Been watching two baby skunks here around the house all summer. Thought they was cute as heck. Then they finally started digging in my compost piles to the point I could not longer compost. Thought oh well getting older in life and thinking they need to live. Then late one night my wife let my "inside" blood trailing dog out to potty! She opened the door to let it back in, problem was it was already INSIDE and IN OUR BED before she realized it had been skunked! It's all funny now but there were a few days back then it was anything but funny! lol Best thing I found for removing the smell off the dog was the orange pumice hand cleaner! But still every once in awhile we get a sniff!
