Title: New Maddog Prairie Predator - Beautiful!
Post by: J. Cook on September 21, 2016, 09:58:00 AM
Well, I made a call into Mike at Maddog Archery a few months ago and we discussed a Prairie Predator build.  I told him the woods I liked, and that I wanted green glass.  He took the rest...  It's a Cocobolo riser, with a Walnut lamination in the riser and the old school green glass.  The tips and riser overlay are a dark Bacote.  She's 55# @ 62" and shoots really well.  I have owned other customs, but bought them all used.  This is the first custom that I ordered and had some say in what went into the bow - I'm pretty dang excited about it.

I'm still fine tuning and tinkering on arrows.  I had some .400 spine carbons so I'm trying to make those work.  What do you think?

That's nice!  I really like that green glass and the contrast with the lighter and darker woods.

That's a beauty.  Fancy veneers are pretty, but there's just something cool about the old school green and brown glass Mike uses.  That is a rediculous piece of cocobolo, by the way.

Beautiful bow!  Ive been wanting a new bow and have been looking at these. Just not sure about switching from recurve to longbow. This makes me want one though regardless. Heard nothing but great things about the Prairie Predator.

Really beautiful bow.  I've got one that's 52 @ 28 that shoots a .600 spine gold tip really well.  You might get by with a .500 full length and front weighted but a .400 spine is really too stiff for mine.  Good luck!

Omg.   I may have to get one? I sure would like to know the cost of one. If I'm not mistaken that Bowyer is retired Air Force I will be too in a few years and would love to buy one just to support a wingman
