...cut their bowstring while putting an arrow into their quiver? Seems like an accident waiting to happen if you're not careful.
Keith,
I have to admit I have done this. But then again, every lesson I have learned in this life has always seemed to be the hard way..
I guess any things possible. Just basic paying attention will prevent it from happening.
While hunting at Kinderbish management area in Alabama I had a young bowhunter from Birmingham come to our camp with a cut bowstring. Luckily I had a replacement string in my junkbox and was able to get him going again. I gave him the string and suggested he could do a good deed for someone in the future.

My elk hunting partner did it a few years back. No extra string made him a caller for a couple days. Lesson learned for him lol.
Never had it happen......yet. But I always carry a back up string that is all shot in.
Also very possible after extracting an arrow from the quiver and putting it into position for a shot, while watching a game animal in close proximity instead of that darned broadhead.

No, but I nicked one while putting an arrow on the string. It did not cut the string all the way through.
I've been bowhunting for 50 years and have known quite a few people that have ended their hunts by cutting their strings with a broadhead and not having a spare.
Because of this,I've carried a spare string and usually a stringer too-always.Last week I went out to work on a ground setup and took my bow to check shooting angles.I was on my knees cutting some limbs and shifting my position,my knee landed on a pebble and when I lifted my knee, put my hand down to catch me and in it was my sharp, folding saw.Pop!Right down on the SBD string and no spare!
So,I'm now a member of the club.I was going to be traveling through antelope country later and was hoping for an opportunity for a stalk but that was done.My spare was at home.
Normally,I carry a small baggie with a spare string, all set up,a stringer,a couple carbon nocks and some spare rest material. It is back in my pack and I plan to never cut another string(I think).Always carry a spare.
Nope, but I always have a spare string just in case something happens.
Nope.
I haven't cut or broken a string in what is now my 47th year handling bows.
A college acquaintance I took bowhunting, cut TWO during a single hunt in Brown County, Indiana around 1975 or 76.
I'm going to be extra careful after writing this!
Cut a few strands but not the entire string
Another no, thankfully. But, like others, I always carry a couple of broken-in backup strings.
I've shipped some overnight to people who did. I don't use a bow quiver, never had it happen.
In 30 few years Ive never done it. Came close a couple times catching myself in time. I always carry a spare, too.
I've never done it, but seen it done!!!

Oops, double post!

x2, I carry 2 broken in tuned backup strings in the arrowmaster quiver.
that's one reason I gave up Great northern quivers. I did not like how on the 4th and 5th arrow you had to go bwtween the quiver and the bow. It's a small thing, but it is what ultimately made me stop shooting them.
I haven't yet but keep a string and stringer with me in my pack. I even bring an extra bow when hunting on trips. Ya just never can tell.
I cut a few strands once but like others I do carry an extra string. I also strung up my bow in the early morning light only to notice a knot shortened my string. With the bow braced the string was now too short and I was unable to untie it. Twice I've used my extra string while hunting.
