Title: EEzzy SkinZ and edging????
Post by: String Cutter on October 25, 2007, 09:08:00 AM
Was thinking of putting some ezzy skinz on a bow I got . How do you work them around the riser and tip overlays to get a really nice look??? Put some rattle snake skins on an old longbow one time, but wasn't reall happy with the way it turned out??? How do you fit it around the overlays to get a nice look???

I'd trim and let the overlays show.

Tom, That's what I want to do. Just don't know how to trim the skinnz around  the overlays Like I've seen? My overlay have some curve to them??? If'n they was straight I could just use a striaght edge to do it....But I tried to free hand it once and it winded up looking crappy??? Can you make a template or something to use and if so how??? I know it sounds real easy for someone that's done it before but, I don't have a clue???

Any time you are trimming these you must use a BRAND NEW RAZOR nothing of lesser quality. This will give you a perfectly clean cut. As for the overlays, push down with your finger and get an idea of where the overlays are. It is kinda hard to get them exact but you can get them real real close. Good Luck
