Pin oaks are best if you have them to trim some branches from, the leaves will stay on til spring. Rope, ziptys etc.

A rope around the tree and some ziptys to the stand works or to other limbs or whatever you can attach to so they don't flop around in the breeze any more than natural limbs. You don't have to be covered up with em, just have some to make a bigger blob up there. And background to cut skylining.

Any of the oak branches cut while the leaves are still green will hold their leaves for quite a while.  Some seem to do better than others, but all are good.  Get to cutting them now.
