Title: Circa 1970 York Recurve
Post by: Osagetree on September 10, 2016, 07:05:00 AM
Trying to set up an old 75# York Recurve.
I have a brace of 8 1/2".

Does that sound about right?

Been shooting selfbows at around 6" for years so maybe I'm just not used to that height or feel.

That brace should be very close to what you need. Like any brace height it might need to be tweeked just a little to get arrow flight just right.

I'd lower it a little and see what happens to arrow flight compared to where it is. If it gets worse move it up. Just don't move it up much higher than it takes to get good flight or you'll lose performance.

I use a rule of thumb.......adjust brace to just keep the bow string in the grooves on the limb. May have to go up or down to get the sweet spot....but it's a place to start.
