I can't remember if it was on here or not, but last year there was a thread that had some pictures of the cross section of a deer's thorax showing proper arrow placement for different tree stand heights. If someone could point me in the right direction, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Sticky up above. " shot placement pics"
That's not it. Helpful, but not the one I was thinking about.
This one?

That's the one I was searching for. Good information.
Damascus Dave,
The OP asked for information from a past thread, not a smart assed quip dripping with sarcasm and condescending remarks. This kind of behavior is counter productive. Uncalled for, sir.
If a member of this community has a question regarding shot placement, it should be answered. This is EXTREMELY important. These things are not the same from animal to animal, and change depending on shot angle and the position of the animal. Perhaps you are such an expert that it is second nature to you. Others here are interested in learning.

Easy does it. We are all friends here...right ?
Teach, train, practice, learn, but friends all.

Chuck,
We are all friends here, that is correct. Your post said it best. "Teach, train, practice, learn". Well said and I couldn't agree more. In fact, I believe that makes my point.
Jake
I'll try to put up some more photos of shot scenarios tomorrow. I have one day of practice and arrow making left before heading to Wyoming.
That wasn't it either. The one I'm thinking about had a cross section of a deer's torso, showing an arrow entering the chest cavity from a pretty steep angle.
The reason I'm asking is for the benefit of a friend that is new to bowhunting. I was going to have him come on here and ask himself, but I might need to reconsider that if some of you goobers can't control yourselves.

Well, it seems I did manage to have one of these 1/4 to shots. Not really on purpose. It turned out good this time.
It was a really quiet evening and the deer heard my movements to get into draw position. So he reacted at the shot. What I thought was almost broadside turned into a 1/4 to hit in the mid front shoulder angling rearward and down. It punched through low on the opposite side near the last rib. I was shooting from a blind so I don't know how he twisted to make this happen.
I heard some bone crack, the arrow stuck though about 3" on the opposite side and hung in the animal. It broke with the scissoring action of the shoulder.
The deer ran exactly 50 paces then stopped and stood for a 10 seconds then went down in a huge puddle of blood.
I wished I could have skinned the deer and inspect the wound but time didn't allow that. You can see the entrance wound here. (http://i1347.photobucket.com/albums/p714/tas0323/Mobile%20Uploads/7AE30E09-C78E-46FD-88AB-57A2970FE9B1_zpsyyo8y7f7.jpg)
