Title: I may be the happiest man alive today (long story).
Post by: Petrichor on September 07, 2016, 07:35:00 PM
At the end of last year, I had a warranty issue with a 65lbs Bear Patriot I bought from Big Jim.  Long story short, I was at the local archery shop and was shooting a 45lbs Montana and loving the lower draw weight.  I laughed at how easy pulling 45 pounds was and talked to JR, who agreed replaced the Patriot with a 45lbs Ausable (amazing but it took like 12 weeks cause they were so busy).  Well the problem was being a poor working man I could not keep up with arrows for two different pound bow as I already had a 55lb Grizzly.  Well I continued to primarily shoot my 55lbs Grizzly, which I loved.  I would occasionally shoot the Grizzly arrows out of my Ausable which flew surprisingly well.(very impressed with the Ausable btw)

A few weeks ago to my horror I noticed a 4 or 5 inch long crack on the front of my Grizzly.  Side note for about 10 years the Grizzly was the eye of my affections and to finally have one was a dream come true.  Lets be honest Fred Bear captured all of our imaginations.  I wanted to keep shooting the Grizzly, but I kept getting nervous of what would happen.  I reached out and contacted JR, who wanted to ship it in for repair.  So I did, I shipped it back and I was bummed, because being 58" it was better suited for tree stands than my 64" Ausable and hunting season is here. I was upset that my go to bow would be in the shop.  JR encouraged me saying get it in quick because they were not backed up right now, but would be soon.

Well with my bday right around the corner my wife permitted me to order a maddog predator long bow 45lbs 56 inch with the mango veneers that I just won on trad gang.  My first custom and it is gonna be a beauty, but I have to wait to get it!!!!!

I had previously told JR at Bear, if they could fix my bow great because I loved that bow.  I told them if they had to replace it and it would not be too much trouble would you please go down to a 45lbs so all my bows are the same.  Well today I called Bear to check on the status of my repair as it has been a week and they said they were still working on it and no new news.  As I pull up into my driveway in my cruiser I see a UPS guy walking to the door.  In his hands is a bear archery package, which confounded me.  It had only been a week since I sent it in, and they said a few min prior they were still working on it.  In the package was a brand new beautiful 45lbs Grizzly.  TWO NEW BOWS in ONE WEEK.  So I take it out on my home range, remember all I have at the moment is arrows for my previous 55lbs Grizzly.  It was thumping arrows with absolute authority.  I am back in the game people. What a great day to be on earth!

Additionally I just ordered arrows, feathers, quiver, and archery target.  At the end of the month I buy my hunting license and tags.   HAPPY DAY!

Meat making is right around the corner. Hoping for my first trad harvest. Might not have anywhere to hunt other than public so it may just be squirrels lol

Congrats on the new bows!  I have had wonderful experiences with the folks at Bear Archery as well!  Squirrels eat pretty good!
