My bro was out Sat and Sunday.  He heard some hunters bugling way too much and way too aggressive.  That's all.

Have a spike hanging around in the mule pasture that's trying.

The same guys who were making the bad bugles were also sounding like chattering squirrels on their cow calls!  Going back up in Thursday and hope they have gone home.

Magazines print articles about "aggressively calling elk" which I take as squallering and chattering on a new call.  There's a host of them (calls) that come out, promising to work if you just use them (calls). Cacciatore, you're incorrectly referring to people as "less experienced hunters", who are more aptly called "enthusiastic consumers".

There is a school of 'run and gun' style elk hunters that subscribe to Larry D Jones and Cory Jacobsen's style of "put on the miles and aggressively bugle until you find a bull that wants to play". It has it's merit, and can be highly effective, but only in high bull density areas and in a very specific window in the rut.

And yes, the bulls here in Southern BC have been locating for a couple of weeks now.
