What type of boots are Saxton and Art wearing?
Interested in getting a pair, or something similar.

Are those gators above shoes maybe?
Check out L.L. Bean's Maine Hunting Shoe. Looks like that, but with a leather upper and lug sole like a logger's boot.

Yep, I have hunted in them for years. Just got a pair with 16 inch uppers and speed laces; they will be my elk hunting boots this year.
As comfortable as moccasins, and quiet.

I did a search for "old fashioned logger's boots" and these look pretty close:

Russell Mocassins
Don''t know exactly what they are wearing, but they were fairly common back in the day. Sort of look like the high top logger's boots, but logger's boots usually were heavier in the foot area with hob nailed soles.
Closest thing in present day would be 16-inch Russell moccasin boots, with or without an extra sole. Of course, if you want to go with a rubber bottom, L.L. Bean still makes a 16-inch version of its Bean boot. I have a pair of those. Very handy in wet country.
Another vote for the maine hunting shoe. Been hunting in them for a couple years now. Order a size to a size and a half small if you plan on wearing them without heavy wool socks though. They run large.
If you plan to wear them ( Maine hunting boots / Bean's) in the mountains, I would take a test run first. They are awesome in Wisconsin and East, very comfy on less than rough ground, but I found them very much less than supportive on the side hills. Just my perspective.

Chuck, I have worn them in the mountains for years with no problems, but YMMV. Don't think I would want to scale Everest with them, but short of that, no sweat.
I would suggest looking into the type of boots wildland firefighters wear. Very similar to the boots Pope and Young are pictured wearing.
Nick's Custom Boots and White's will make them for you. Drew's also. There is a fairly new old fellow on the scene also making them: Adam's Boots I believe. Logger/wildland firefighter boots. You'll not find a more durable boot, or one more expensive or that takes longer to receive once ordered, or that takes more to break in. It's worth it.
Been using White's Smoke Jumper boots since the 60's. Cost a lot less then than now but still worth the price. Have a pair that they have rebuilt a couple of times. Great boots that fit right.
Just saw an add for Red Wing boots, Heritage ,hand made boots had a pair with 16" tops and speed lace.
