Post by: Rob W. on August 20, 2016, 03:27:00 PM
I have a couple things I forgot but it's time to get everything together. It's going to be a long week!

You are a master of preparation.

I ended up around 2500-2800 calories on avg. Per day. A lot of guys go higher than that but I didn't have any problems last year with that intake for 9 days. This year I have packed for 12 days with a trip back to the truck in between.

I'm jealous!

I love preparing for a good backpack trip.  I missed my annual trip this spring, so now I really have the itch!

Good luck this year!  I hope to see another post from you soon Rob with bags full of meat being packed!

Graps, there are peanut butter and honey tortillas in there. I'm hoping for some backstraps over the fire to take the place of some of this food.    :readit:

Good luck! It's amazing how much of your pack becomes just food. Then you gotta make room for all the other stuff! Have fun and be safe!

Any idea what the total weight is going to look like? I've got a 10 day canoe trip in northern Ontario planned for next summer with two people and I'm trying to get a handle on the weights. Float plane trip is limiting weight for the long flight.

I'm averaging about 1.5 lb a day. A typical day is oats with powdered whole milk and chia seeds, cocoa  with powdered milk, kind bar, emergenC, peanut butter tortilla(sometimes nuttella), hard cheese, hard salami/jerky, instant pudding, nut and reeses trail mix, and half a 2.5 serving MH or a noodle dish. A few mornings I have MH breakfast skillet and tortillas with hot sauce. Olive oil added to a few things and some candy bars.

Do you have a list posted anywhere of what you pack in for gear and food?

I don't have any lists posted. I really don't worry about going too light. I like to be comfortable. I use a Golite sl5 for shelter. I also carry an ultralight hammock for lounging during the day and cooling meat in pinch. My pack usually tops out around 55# on the pack in with food and water.
