Try something you figured wouldn't help , but it blew you away?
I have read about folks putting grip tape on their bows for a long time, figured it would not work, but yesterday at wally world I saw the tennis racket tape and thought for 3 bucks I would just try it.
Put it on last nite and was shooting way better than I had in a while. Thought yeah right.....
This am I went out and shot some more, it is still killer.
Anybody else try this stuff with great results or can I expect to shoot crappy when the new wears off? :biglaugh:
My only gripe was it didn't have any adhesive except a half inch on the tapered end that it said to start with. I superglued the other end, will see if it stays.
Try a product called Lizard Skins. It's billed as a grip for ball bats but works well on risers and it isn't very expensive. I use it on an ILF metal riser and like it.
Thanks! Got some vet wrap for a coyote reduction program, it sticks to itself, may try it too.
Friction tape would work well.
I'll cast my vote, that the new will wear off. I believe that shooting potential was there all along, even without the wrap. Its likely mental, but if that gives you the confidence boost you needed, more of the same power to you!
Oh it's definitely mental wif Kenny... :)
Good to know.
I put tennis wrap on my bear minuteman grip works great. Non slip but also not tacky or sticky. Absorbs a bit of shock as well and insulates the hand from the metal riser.
Good for you Kenny!!! I believe it's an on going process and we should never Never stop learning or limit ourselves! Always room for improvement! Jmho

that's what Renee says too....
If its mental and helps, I'm good with that too!!

You got me thinking, Kenny. I have a static recurve that doesn't fit well in the grip. Maybe some tape would work.
I use wilson racket tape from academy. Gives the bow a more stabil feel.
I did the same thing a few weeks ago and it really helped my grip, esp on those hot, sweaty days of shooting.
Last time I was at the docs for some blood work, asked the nurse if she had any used rolls of that self-adhering tape they use to wrap the needle site after drawing the red stuff. Put some on my Hummingbird longbow as it has a high gloss finish and gets quite slippery in warm weather. Works great. And, it stays put. I suppose you could get the same stuff at the local apothecary.
Kenny, Glad you found something that you think works, my guess is you had it in you the whole time :readit: ;) :p
The bow I hunt with has a rubber slide on grip, I shoot it better than the rest.... Just saying...
I guess what I'm getting at is don't discount anything til you try it.... :D
I love it when I try something new......................and it actually does work!
