Title: Elkheart help
Post by: fnshtr on August 01, 2016, 11:32:00 PM
Just got a new to me Elkheart. LOVE IT but it doesn't like my 29" GT 500s with 275 grains up front (including the 100 grain brass insert). It is 54" and is labeled 50# @ 28". I draw 27 3/4".

When shooting the 500s there is obvious erratic flight (appears to corkscrew). Shot a 29" 400 with 190 grains total up front and 3 5" shields. The 500s were fletched with 3 4" parabolics. The 400s appeared to fly better.

I'll be going through normal tuning but thought some of you may have experience to help.

Any advice would be appreciated, including nock point for shooting split, brace height etc.
Thanks

Wayne,
I have an Elkheart 56" that's 50# @ 28" and I shoot 250-300 grns. on carbon arrows. Have found good flight with 400 spine cut 28" BOP with 4 4" feathers. Hope this is helpful. Todd

yep that 500 setup is too soft.  def better idea to tune with 400s with that much foc. brace height is an individual thing but my elk always seemed to be sweet somewhere 7 3/8 to 7 7/8.
