Title: what quiver for HH style bow
Post by: adkmountainken on July 30, 2016, 05:08:00 PM
ok I very much dislike a bow quiver BUT I will have my 2 year old son in a backpack this year small game and deer hunting with me. %99 of the time I use a back quiver, if not on occasion a side stalker. however with him in the backpack I do not want any strap that can interfere with anything around him, the pack or otherwise in the way. any ideas???

Good for you taking your youngster out with you, that will be some choice memories!
Since you don't like bow quivers, might I suggest you consider one of the Absorkee Quivers?
Not on the bow, no straps, easy on-easy off, will not interfere with packing your son with you!
Thanks,

I always liked a side quiver that clipped on to your belt with a tie down to my leg.Hill bows in my opinion have too short a riser for a bow quiver. My favorite side quiver was my Chuck
Adams side quiver.

A Great Northern Strap on quiver will work fine on a Hill, as will a slip on Selway.  I use both.  Bow quivers give Hills a little extra mass, which I rather like.

They do require at least a soft grip.  Otherwise the quiver tends to torque/turn the bow in your hand at the shot.  Most Hill shooters take a pretty firm grip though. If you fit that style, a bow quiver won't be a problem.

I have a Lakota style side quiver that I use when I have a pack on. It keeps the arrows under my arm with the fletching pointing forward.

I use the Selway rawhide slide-on. Looks good, and rock-solid.

I'd try a hip quiver Absorkee,Selway or Thunderhorn.
if,you want nothing on your back or bow!
I would say Safari Tuff Arowmaster. I wear mine with a back pack  and it rides nicely at my side. But I'm not carrying a little person back there either

I put a Great Northern on everything, including my Hill styles.  They work well for me.

I second the Lakota style as advocated by Elkhunter45. I use a similar set up with my big pack. It works hunting and hiking steep terrain in the cliffs goat hunting. It is also very functional in the thick bamboo groves and jungles. I don't have a child on my back but this is my preferred style of quiver when I have a big pack on.

I like Eagles Flight quivers particularly on longbows like Hills and other longbows with lighter smaller risers.

My favorite is a 4 arrow hood with the 3 arrow gripper.

We make quivers of several sizes for the various bows and broadheads at EFA. My personal preference for a Hill style bow is a smaller 4 arrow version just large enough to cover whatever broadhead you are using. Our J-1 size fits most broadheads and is our most popular size. Our slogan is "Travel Light with Eagle's Flight".    :archer2:

That Absorkee side quiver Tim Roberts makes should work great. It will keep the arrows away from your son in the back pack. A real top shelf product , hangs nicely on your side. Other than that, I'd only consider a GN strap on. Two tier one products right there.
