I'll be doing an unguided hunt with Fred & Michele Eichler in Colorado. I didn't want to miss the Muzzy shoot so I booked the second week of the season. I hunted Antelope with Fred back in 2002 and had shot opportunities but was holding out for a monster that I kept seeing. I had him finally come in with a group and as he was facing me drinking a small buck made the alarm call and they were gone!
This time any legal buck is going to get shot.
Anybody have any tips? Or gear to bring? I bought a small battery operated fan and plan on getting a cooling towel.
I'll be hunting primarily spot & stalk and ambush. The terrain here is unique pronghorn terrain in that there is an abundance of water (river) and setting up in a blind can be pretty hit or miss.
I hunted the same area 2 years ago the final week of the season and had some great stalks. I managed 3 shots in 6 days, but all jumped the string and had clean misses.
This year I hope to get a little closer and be more patient!
I drew a coveted Oklahoma tag! It's a rifle hunt but I'll probably bring the bow
I'm hunting the opening 7 days of WY's antelope bow season east of Cheyenne.
I was unsuccessful in the draw this year UGH! I love to hunt antelope one of my favorite animals. If hunting from a blind try and stick it out all day everyday of the hunt, the hours get long and very hot but, the reward is worth it when a nice buck comes in.
My wife and I are going again this year. Hoping for an early rut.
Both myself and Thom Jorgensen will be hunting Wyoming on opening day. Can't wait!
I should be getting a bow license soon. Our antelope numbers are way down and a lot will depend on where they decide to hang out,as to whether they are huntable with a bow.Right now, there is a group, right where I need them to be and there is a good buck in the bunch.

I did not draw a tag, but if you look at the news, my prime spot is a raging inferno.. Pyramid Lake in NV is almost in the line of fire and that is my normal spot.
season starts the 15th, trying to recover from a puncture in the web of my hand, hope I heal up in time. Can't shoot atm.
Drew a pretty good tag here in Oregon. First time hunting these beautiful animals. Looking forward to spending some time in the high desert.
Use a small utility trailer inner tube as a seat cushion.
Flavor your drinking water with a powdered mix of some type. It's going to taste warm, so it might as well have some flavor.
Practice shooting in windy conditions, if possible. Crosswinds will do crazy things to your arrow flight.
Don't take an unprotected camera into a pit blind. Cameras and wind-blown sand aren't a good mix.
Cut an antelope target out of cardboard, stake it upright in an open field and shoot at it with judo-tipped arrows. Shooting across an open expanse can fool your instinctive eye.
Good luck and have a great time!
