Heading out in January. Plan to camp on gardner canyon road in 34a as we will be quail hunting as well. If anybody has any info on places to go, it would be much appreciated. This will be my second trip from ga and I didnt even see one last time. Thanks for any help!
I am assuming you mean AZ.? If so check Az. Game and Fish website for some info on critters. They (sate officials) are warning hunters, hikers, etc. about getting to close to international border.
Another thought, try Arizona Bowhunters website. Find the regional chair member and shoot him an Email. Maybe he can help?
I am hopefully going to area around Bartlet Lake. Saw some prime area, with my luck all I will see rabbits.
Any reason for 34A in particular? That's a unit that butts against Mexico. Only guys I knoW that go that way take a few buddies with rifles to run overwatch. I'll ask around for you though see if any of them still go that way and what they recommend.
I basically chose 34a because I know it pretty well, its closer to GA than a lot of the other units, and it is loaded with quail and I know where they are. Id be open to other units if they had those qualities. 34 a has some very big mtns as well, which I like

Can't help with specific information regarding 34a as I've never hunted it but I have been Javy hunting the past two years and was able to fill my tag both times. I have learned a ton from the experienced resident hunters I have been with. When looking for javelina concentrate your search with excellent binoculars on areas that have an abundance of two of their favorite foods - prickly pear cactus and lechuguilla. Remember that javelina don't have underfur so get cold easily and won't usually get out of bed (they pile up on top of each other at night to stay warm) until the sun warms them up. Then they feed most of the morning and then take a nap - they travel in groups so if you see one, be patient and you will see the rest. Their eyesight is poor but their nose and ears make up for it.
