As summer begins to wane, my thoughts turn to hunting more than usual. In August or September, I plan to bow hunt antelope in western Nebraska. I will most likely take a scouting trip at the beginning of August to meet with ranchers, scout their ranches for antelope and place a ground blind or two.
I can't wait! So, where are you all going to hunt on your out of state trip(s) this year?
I'll be at Wild Things in Feb for my annual hog hunt.
My deer and small game hunting will be right around the house.
Kansas for deer! First time for me.
Bisch
I wanted to do a hunt with a friend who retired this past year. We have never hunted togethet before, but talked about it often. We found a reasonable bear hunt in Ontario for this fall.
Really looking forward to it as I had such a great time last spring at Stickflingers.
None. I'll hunt deer on my small place right here at home.
Not out of state, but 5 hours away in the Adirondacks in late September. Maybe Louisiana for pigs in Dec. or Jan. during a family visit. I'm retired, sometimes I just load the truck and go to ???? wherever! :archer2:
Colorado drop camp elk in late September. 3 of us going on the same trip we did 2 years ago. I am really looking forward to it.
D.P.
none money seems to get tighter every year, I have really enjoyed my out of state hunts in the past but its been 4 years and I don't see me going again in the near future.. dang it
Other than chasing my beloved Oklahoma Whitetials...Colorado elk hunt August 27th, Kansas public land deer hunting, and Arkansas public land deer hunting into February if finances allow.
I am going to make it a piont to make one trip for elk or other western game every year possible and am trying to figure out the complex draw system
Bear hunt this September in Maine . Then jersey deer and more bear in October
I would really like to make it back to my home state of Alaska for a bear or caribou hunt. New Zealand will happen next year for my honeymoon. Pretty excited about that!
Msturm
I usually go back to Pa to hunt the allegheny national forest which I grew up hunting. But with a newborn and limited vacation left, that trip is out for this year.
I'll be heading to SW Oklahoma to hunt some bow only public land and am really excited for it. Kind of a mini "western" hunt.
And while not out of state, I'll be headed to south Texas to chase deer and hogs on a friend's family ranch. A 7 hour drive from Fort Worth makes it almost twice as far as going to oklahoma
OK, TX, WA and Oh
My annual trip to Illinois.
Have a buddy that lives near durant OK. Hogs are thick as fleas over there. Been chucking copper at them for a few years but this year I'll be chasing them with my longbow.
Oklahoma is pretty cheap as far as out of state fees go
Just Sitka Blacktails on Kodiak Island.
Don't have any, but I'll almost be out of state when I hunt deer this year, only thing I need to leave Colorado for is decent upland bird hunting!
Colorado DIY
Will be going from Illinois to Wyoming for mule deer....leaving around the 29th of August and hunt the 1st week of September.
Colorado DIY elk.
Louisiana, Texas, North Carolina, and maybe Virginia.

"JUST" :archer2:
Hah. I guess that could be taken negatively :D
I just meant I only have one one trip planned. I don't do much hunting in Michigan; what I have access to is worse than poor so I usually end up in a few states. Not much luck in the draws this year.
Kodiak Island is my favorite place on this earth
Oh I didn't take it negatively. I took it a subtlety. As in, I'm just running out for a bit; going to Mars. :D

Just 2 weeks in Utah chasing elk around.
Alaska for moose.
Utah mule deer in late August, Ontario moose in September, and Iowa whitetails in November. I'll fill in my down time with whitetails around home.
Hoping for Wisconsin. I'll be hunting out of state in my mind though. Does that count?!
Jeremy
Eight-hundred-mile drive every year, deer, northwestern Ohio with nephew and 2 teenaged sons, all of whom are far more accomplished hunters than I, and it is the most satisfying family time imaginable. We hunt small wooded patches next to cornfields, and the deer are big. Only bowhunting allows the fellowship of 4 hunters in a relatively small area together. November 1. Save the date!
Colorado elk and deer in Ohio.
That moose in Alaska (or anywhere) is the one that makes me drool.
Ct state land
Wyoming Pronghorn 15th Aug. and New Mexico elk 1st of September.

Due to circumstances, I'll be joining Jeremy in Cerebral National Forest where the seasons are always open, the game is always plentiful, the weather is always perfect, the hunts are always successful and the spirit is always blessed. ;)
Tom
Kentucky in October for whitetail with my good friend.
Can't wait!
Montana elk and deer, September till...
Sure nice to see the economy is working for some folks.
Idaho elk in September, whitetail here in Ohio after that, Lord willing.
I hunt year round for hogs in Florida but out of state for deer will be North Carolina with huskyarcher(near Boone)and Connecticut with Bill Langer. Pretty poor deer hunting where I pig hunt, unfortunately.

I wouldn't equate people's hunting plans with the economy.
I prefer to look at it this way...MANY guys have realized there are far better hunting opportunities in this world, than what they have available at home. Life flys by, why not enjoy it along the way? Since Joining the PBS (Professional Bowhunters Society), I have zero desire to chase whitetails in Michigan anymore. Opportunities abound, just look at the diversity of people and hunts included in this thread.
For this to happen, you need to decide what is more important to you in life...Buy anything, and everything, on a whim=no money/stay at home hunting, OR figure out the cost of what you want to hunt, and be disciplined enough to meet your goal so that you can go on the hunts you want to go on.
If you need help figuring out logistics, just ask. There is never a shortage of good guys willing to give valuable information.
Good luck to everyone posting in here. May your freezers be overflowing and quiver just 1 arrow shy.
Headed to Alaska in just over 7 weeks for a solo moose hunt, with up to 14 days alone in the backcountry.

Just 5 weeks....roadtrip to Canada with my best friends to celebrate our 50th Birthdays. We'll be tote'n our longbows and fishin rods from KS to Ontario. Most of us...first bear hunt. Hope to see a few and if the Lords willin harvest one. But most of all I'm looking forward to a week in the woods with three fellas that I've grew up with and remain close to. Should be a special trip.
Wow Kevin, solo this year huh, good luck and stay safe... Let us know you've made it home okay...
Missouri chasing whitetails with my friend Kenny McKenzie. Had to pass on last season and been pretty much homebound with a serious health problem until a team of Doctors finally diagnosed me with an Auto Immune System problem. Good to go now and can't wait for November to get here!
