It was actually pretty easy to build one. I gathered as many different plans from the internet as I could. Initially, I had plans to make it adjustable in a couple planes so that I could fine tune the arrow location relative to the wire and quickly swap carbon or wood arrows with different diameters. In the end I stuck with a more simple design.
For the power source, I used a Lionel model 1016 from e B a y, which was $10. For wire I used 24 AWG Nichrome 80, which was $5.89 on Amazon. I used brass nuts and washers for holding the power and burning wires in place on the bolts.

Thanks for the tutorial. I may look into building one. I've always wanted one but couldn't justify the cost when I only make about a dozen arrows/year.
Very good video, and explained simple enough and old redneck like me can make it :clapper: :clapper:
Nicely done. Straight forward and simple. Thanks
I like it, and your video is very well done
Great tutorial. Hopefully it will be moved to the HOW TO section for future reference. :clapper:
