Any one hunt ferel pigs in Michigan ?
I've been waiting to for a few years but the information is vague at best .
I can find DNR lists of where they are spotted but I can't find information about property that is wanting hunters to come and get the pigs .
I'm sure that there are some property owners somewhere that would like to get rid of some wild pigs .
Is there anybody else that would like to hunt pigs in Michigan ?
Can we pool our information with each other or maybe even get a hunt organized ?
If it's like Wisconsin, there aren't that many pigs, and the landowners are deluged with folks wanting to hunt them, and the landowners don't really want the hunters on their land.
I'm guessing most landowners are trying to eradicate feral hogs with trapping efforts in hopes of catching the entire sounder. Hog hunting tends to interfere with a trapping effort by scattering them.
I was hoping there would be someone here in Michigan that has hunted and or interested in pig hunting .
Would be kinda neat if we could get a group that could get this figured out and set up some hunts .
Feral pigs are a farmer's nightmare. They do horrendous crop damage. Most states DNR do not go out of their way to advertise where they are because hunting can actually have the inverse effect on the population than desired, especially bow hunting.
Many farmers only trap.
I have hunted them. It's fun, and not as easy as it looks on TV
