It's curly maple with white and black ebony veneers . There are several worm holes in the veneers and that just adds to the character .

If it's sooo beautiful you are afraid to take her out, then yes!

But as long as you don't mind being seen in public with a beauty (and I don't), then you should be just fine with that one there!

I dont think there should ever be a bow TOO purdy to hunt with. After all, especially for a hunter, what else was the bow purchased and designed for? I "get" caring for a bow, and being careful....but if you're not gonna hunt or shoot with it, why even own it? Its like these folks that buy land rover vehicle's and are afraid to use them off road....what was the extra money spent for....status? I could care less, use the dang thing or get something you WILL use

An ol boy brought to the range a black widow bow that was obviously highly customized with beautiful exotic woods. He was sooooo proud, it was obvious he felt himself a notch or more above everyone else. He wasnt a bad shot. When he moved on, I stepped up to the same spot, shot as tight or tighter, with speed differences appearing to be little. I dont know how expensive his bow was, but mine cost $290 brand new, and I feel mine is a looker too.. Dont get me wrong, I love a widow, owned and loved them myself.... but in the end they all send arrows....dont get Soooo caught up in the bow or the looks of it, and forget that putting an arrow on spot is the goal.

Beautiful bow. The only bow I would consider not taking to the woods be the Blacktail Legacy with the price at $4500.00 I would cry if I got a scratch on it. But since I don't own one,I don't have to worry about it. Other than that I would take any bow out in the field.

I remember the first truck I ever bought new.  Glossy, shiny, clean.  My father told me the best thing I could do for myself was take a garden rake to the bed, and get it over with - because I had just purchased the most expensive hammer I would buy.

That sage advice has served me well over the years.  A tool to get the job done - only the job itself varies.

A bow that's too purdy can be fixed with just a little sand paper or spray paint. Nice bow now go get blood on it.

I've refinished a couple bows. And when done, they sure looked nice. But it only takes one hunting season to give them some "beauty" marks and make them even more perdy.   ;)

Been told by a couple people that the "64" Zebrawood Grizzly I hunt with is to purdy to take to the woods.

I'm in the minority.  I don't want endangered tropical hardwoods, I don't want elk antler anything in my bow, I don't want arrows footed with some kind of rare wood.  I don't care bout bling at all. I want a bow that shoots well and kills animals

Life is to short to shoot an ugly bow.

Cant help myself. I like a nice looking bow. When I order a new one I always consider buying something in camo colors but always spring for the pretty wood.
Ive never been accused of being really smart.

Even a beautiful bow can be an effective hunter. And if it gets a few dings, it can be refurbished, so I would answer no to the question. I have never had an issue with glossy bows in a hunting scenario, either. The only possible exception might be a bow to commemorate a specific event or person. Even then, I would probably want to use it.

I have a recurve with antler accents that are very white. It makes me self conscious for hunting. I rub mud on the white parts. It comes off easy, and is no big deal.

My wife found out that I put my bow on here .
She made me post a picture of her bow that was made at the same time .
She thinks hers is better looking than mine .
So here it is .
It's not perdier than mine .    :dunno:

That's too close to call, but I bet if she poses with hers, and you pose with yours........hers will be unanimously voted perdier.

I had a very nice zebrawood bow built recently with an East Indian rosewood butcher block I beam and accents...I let the bowyer make the decision on finish, fully expecting he would add his great gloss finish...when I got the bow it was done in his matte finish which at first I found disappointing as I had no intention of hunting with that bow...of course, given some further thought, that bow will be going elk hunting with me this fall...we are bowhunters...we buy bows to hunt with

To me the true beauty of a bow is how well it shoots.

I can't change the name Kirk , Jose Miller the guy that made it for me , already named it .
The name is " The Wormhole " , as you can see in this picture .

I see where a couple posts referred to my bow as to shiny .
The finish is very flat and the black and white ebony make a good camo pattern .

I like beautiful woods in my bows. In fact, that's a big reason I won't own a longbow or 50's style recurve...not enough wood to look at.

I had one bow that was too shiny (I ordered it that way) for me to hunt with without covering it all up (with an ugly suit). I sold the bow. I sooooo wish I had thought to just have it refinished in satin.

Yep, I know the cosmetics don't impact the impact. But, I spend a lot more time looking at my bow hanging in the tree than I do at deer I'm waiting on.

Don't want to hurt anybody's feelings, but your bride has the prettiest bow.....wonder if she is a better shot too.     :archer2:

Well now that you bring that up , I can only out shoot her after about 15 shots .
She will most always hit the 10 ring on the first shot at 20 yards . Then she gets tired quickly , and the arrows will be all over the bag . After about 20 or so she will even miss the bag .
But as we all know , the first arrow is the only one that counts .

Funny thing happened a while back .
We were starting to shoot this one time and I said " First arrow for a million bucks " .
She shot first and as usual , smack center of the 10 ring .
Then I shot and put my arrow about 3" high and about 1" left of the bull .
She said " What was that ? "
I said " I didn't want to hit your arrow " .
Yeah , that's my story and I'm stickin' with it .
