All I shoot a acadian tree stick with a selway slide 5 arrow quiver. And with the quiver on its just a very small thump at release very quiet bow. When I take the selway quiver off the bow is just flat out loud. I have worked the brace height from 6 1/2 to 7 1/4 still louder than with the quiver on the bow. I'm shooting wood arrows that fly lazer strait. My string is a fury string with two beaver balls on it. Just want to shoot a naked bow. Any ideas on why the bow is louder.
I had a tree stick that was loud and it was mostly the string, it was way too thick. I went to a skinny string and wool silencers and it was very quiet with no quiver. I have several strings made of Fury and find them to work well but I never had one on the tree stick. Beaver balls are not my favorite silencer... I prefer whiskers or a good wool.
What length is your bow and actual string length, I may have a string for you to try ... just pm me
Interesting, I never saw a loud tree stick
Your release, nock fit, and tuning are my first thoughts.
How the string is made and the string material itself are second.
I've run across a rare bow that seemed to "like" one material over another. Couldn't say why, it just shot quieter.
On the several bows I've tried it on, I haven't found "skinny" to be any quieter than a moderate size string (both equally well made). I did have one bow that was noisy with a way overbuilt string.
Don't forget silencers can be tuned. I've seen a few bows where moving the silencers made a HUGE difference in noise.
First thoughts are it's a vibration problem, because with the quiver it's quieter--the quiver acts as a dampener. That's likely tuning...maybe the nock set needs moved up or down, and/or your release may be part of it.
Last resort for me would be a different string. I've had fantastic results with 18-20 strands of BCY-X.

Beaver balls are pretty much useless except on maybe D style bows which are naturally quiet anyway... put some wool puffs on it and bet it will quiet right down or different string plus puffs.. strings make a big difference and as Chad said as a last resort get a new string, put new strings on my Border because it was really noisy and its pretty much longbow quiet now.
Update!!!! my string is a 15 strand fury. I put 4 very small wool puffs on it and I adjusted my nocks they where really tight . I should have thought about the nocks being tight just over looked that. Thanks for the help.
