What are the thoughts on the comparison between the Muzzy Phantom and the Woodsman Originals? Both offer high quality performance but which seems to be the better of the two and why? I've heard that the Phantoms can wiggle loose over time but don't really know if that's legit or not. Are they the same in strength? How easy are they to sharpen in comparison? For the phantoms...is the 100 grain version a weaker counterpart of the 125 grains? Please share experience...not theories ;)
Out of the two I'd take the woodsman. Have used both but the woodsman is easier to sharpen for me. The bleeders on the phantoms were always a wench to clear making harder to sharpen.
I was thinking about using the Magnus stingers this yr? (Phantom like design) Thinking that they would be easier to take apart for sharpening? Just got some "buzz cuts" from a friend and they are 100grain. I would have to change inserts to 100 grain brass though.
Far as killin animals? Not a difference in them if you do your part? Sharp and in the right place.

My experience with the phantoms was with the 200 grain stainless steel, not even sure if they still offer them. After a few rounds into my block broadhead target the main blades could be moved around by hand. Not what I expected from a bh marketed for dangerous game.
I like the Phantom a lot but can sharpen three blade heads much faster and with less potential for slipping and cutting myself with bleeder blades. I love Razorcaps and bought enough when they were being made to last my lifetime. Woodsman and the Instinct heads would be my next choice.
I like those razor caps too.. Bill I have 200 and 175 but you do you have a few 125 ferrules you could sell?
Have y'all found the bleeders to be too difficult to remove or do you recommend a diamond stone for sharpening or something similar to that? I have a pack of six phantoms coming from Cabelas before the weekend hopefully but I'm also probably going to pick up a pack of woodsmans at the local archery supplier because I can get them on a discount.
Both are great, I've used both extensively for Whitetail. I also used to use the now discontinued 220 gr version of the Phantom. Killed a bunch of critters with them but rarely had the bleeders last more than one animal unlike the woodsman which are very durable. The only difference between the muzzy phantom weights I believe is the steel ferrule as opposed to aluminum with the 125 grain...the 100 grain is a smaller broadhead than the 125 and old 220 versions. I shot the 100 grain version when I used a compound.
I'd say the woodsman heads are much more durable than the Phantom and easier to sharpen, stainless so they do rust though.
...oh and I never had any issues with the muzzy as far as performance! Great head, good steel, and reasonably priced.
Thanks a lot ....I've heard that some guys that have a main blade rattle over time just drop some super glue on it and it doesn't happen again....is this fact or fiction?
I wish Muzzy still made the 150+ grain Phantom's I killed a few turks with my wheel bow using them back in high school...
I've had a couple of phantoms come apart on passthroughs. Now I believe they failed after the contact with the deer and up on hitting hard ground, but it left a bad taste in my mouth and I won't use them.
Btw I wouldn't use phantoms on skinny shafts due to the design. Sam do you think that had anything to do with that?
The woodsman is a Great head. I have never used the phantom.
