Went out Green Apple hunting again this morning mainly just to try out some cane arrows from my new bow..

Then I spotted another Hunter behind my target. I tried to be nice and yet let him know that this was my turf. I tossed him a few apples for the road and ask him to leave, he left without incident. (Or Apples)

That's it, close as I'm getting anyway!!
Any idea what kind of snake? Black Mamba? :smileystooges:
Can't see from the picture , what kind of snake is it ?
I think you should go back to him and get a very close picture of the scale pattern .
Don't think there are any Black Mambas in Ky so I'll say black snake. Did have gold looking spots up the back.
I am with Graps, need a close up in focus, maybe a couple views from angles. :biglaugh:
If that were Texas we would call it Blue Indigo
black rat snake...
Enlarge the picture and you can see the gold looking spots up the back. No closeup photos will be taken by me!
Not much detail but it looks like a rat snake.
I have regular visits for black rat snakes. If I see them, I just escort them to the woods. If my wife sees them, I catch and remove the snake. Used to, if she saw a snake, she got her pitchfork and started a fight with it.
Yes, and while you're at it a closeup of the eyes would be nice so we can rule out 1)triangular head 2)elliptical pupils and 3) pits in front of them, lol!
Pretty sure its a rat snake. Oldgoat, I don't think indigo snakes are found that far up.
Maybe you could get him to smile for the picture. Then take a selfie of the both of you shaking hands.
Remember snakes eat rats, rats have fleas, fleas carry the plague, the plague killed a third of the worlds population twice. Snakes are good.
Find his brother and you have your next bow limb design.
Yep, he was cruising lookin for the rat that's been eatin your apple chunks. We only have Grey Rat snakes this far south. We often saw Black ones in North Alabama. Purdy critters
It was pretty, I just sent him on his merry way. But I can assure you that when I go to pull arrows that I will be looking carefully!
Yup Tony.....black rat snake. Harmless and helpful. I understand running him off your honey hole green apple hunting spot. ...wouldnt want him getting any big ideas. ..lol
From back in '67. Snakes are our friends... (//%5Burl=http://s1228.photobucket.com/user/jimavelis/media/black%20snake.jpg.html%5D%20%5Bimg%5Dhttp://i1228.photobucket.com/albums/ee458/jimavelis/black%20snake.jpg) [/IMG]
Okay that does look like the same type of snake in the picture but I ain't gonna try that just yet. I'll just let them be!
Maybe you could train him to find lost arrows since he could slither down below the grass.
