Where it all started; 1969 Ben Pearson SuperJet in 35#, (dubbed "Baby Ben")given to me by Dad back around 1970 to keep me out of trouble. Little did he know.... :nono:

More bows to follow..
Then came the Bears...
First came my '72-'73 Grizzly, R/H 45#@28 (not sure on the year because the PO refinished it and removed the serial number...d'oh!)

more to follow....
The second Bear I bought was my coveted 1969 HC-300 Tamerlane, unbelievably accurate and smooth as French silk. Perfect for off-season backyard practice and form work...1969, R/H 35@28", 69"AMO

More to follow...
This was rapidly followed by the purchase of my Bear Kodiak Hunter, 45#@28", 60" AMO. I had a hard time choosing between the K-hunter and a K-mag, ended up choosing the Hunter due to the longer AMO length...

...which ended up not mattering in the least, because a few weeks later I caved and bought a K-Mag anyway. 45#@28, 52"AMO. (The ugly sight no longer resides on the bow)

And there you have it. My sad tale of corruption.
Looks pretty nice, at least there is a pattern. Mine is a variety of styles and bowyers.
Gotta love them Bear Bows . :archer:

I really like the vintage Bear line. They can be purchased quite reasonably on the auction sites (caveat emptor*, or course!)and in many cases, look and shoot as good or better than when they were new. I love old stuff from the Golden Age of Archery and the Bear bows really speak "classic" to me. The Tamerlane was absolutely flawless when I got it, but had apparently sat a long time without being strung because the first time I strung it and drew it back it experienced some minor finish checking. No biggie to me; it's nearing 50 years old! One has to expect a little road rash...or as I choose to call it, "character"!
*(let the buyer beware)
Okay Kirk you should be over that let hit by now, time to start looking again! Now if I can only find the misses phone number to alert her. Lol

It's not like I hide it from her, Tony, I just sorta...um, forget...to tell her. I can't help it if UPS delivers to my work or if she's not standing right there when I bring the box in, now can I?
And yes, the itch is starting again. Gotta stay away from the evil auction sites.
Must...resist...force is powerful... :help:
Still love them tamerlanes. Gorgeous bows. Nice collection Kirk.
Very nice collection!!
Lookin good!
Thanks, guys. Ya gotta start somewhere!
I have a wonderful wife , I find a bow that I think I need and she is the one that will talk me into it .
She will say something like " Well you want it and you are going to regret not getting it , so you might as well . "

Graps, that's just because she's been with you long enough now, to know there aint no sense in arguing with a person who's will and head is like coming up against well seasoned osage orange.... :banghead:
