Title: Just Applied WY Antelope
Post by: Bowwild on May 30, 2016, 12:04:00 PM
Spent most of the morning making group and individual applications for WY antelope. Three of us trying for Unit 34 as a group. Each is also in the hat for Doe/Fawn permit.  This is DIY on private land.

Looks like two in the group will be hunting 12-19 and I'll be hunting 15-19 (maybe evenings before the 15th if time permits - I'm conducting NASPĀ® training 12th-14th for Cheyenne School District PE Department).

Find out if drawn with everyone else on June 21.

The draw results aren't in yet...I check every other day but they aren't supposed to be in until June 21.

My dates for the hunt have changed though.  Looks like I'll be opening the season with my brother and best friend on August 15th instead of mid-September.  This change is due to teachers needing trained (Cheyenne) before school starts. Pretty cool plans. I'll teach for 3 days (12-14) and my brother and buddy will glass the hunting area from vantage points during the day.

It will be a little hotter and probably no hints of rut activity. However, we'll be "guarding" irrigated crops.

Another silver lining is that I'll be home in plenty of time for the opening of our KY white-tail opener the 1st Saturday in September.

I'm the only one on this hunt that's ever killed a pronghorn with a bow but I've never had a shot at a buck. But I haven't killed one with a recurve.
