Title: Iron Bull: Bound for Paradise
Post by: Gary Kellar on October 22, 2007, 09:22:00 AM
I somewhat concerned about the Bull; he's not been heard from since he reported that he was crossing Kansas, on his way to his Paradise hunt, and had been startled by the sight of Pine tree!

Now we all know that he's totally capable of navigating in the wilds of his mountain home, but is it possible that he could become disoriented in the vast open spaces of Kansas?

Has anyone seen or heard from the boy? Will a search party be necessary?

Correction: Vance is staying the day @ Charlie's and they are having a family dinner with Charlie's daughter who Vance hasn't seen since she was 4. He and Charlie should be here tomorrow afternoon unless they decide to stop by some other ganger's on the way to harass their critters   :campfire:

Joey, you wouldn't recognize the place now, little trees grown up, big ones cut down. There are BIG rattlesnakes at "E", but two fewer than last year! We also have COWS now, try to chase some up to the house so we won't have to cut the grass. Also I'm still trying to locate the four sections of my steel ladder, if someone happens to come across them, please let me know where to find them!

i guess we shouldn't tell them about the 'neighbor"...a 1 arm Ex Game warden...Did anyone ever kill the Emu?....Seriously this place has the BiG Five.. Diamondbacks, Canebreaks,Cottonmouths, Copperheads and Coral.....Rick, Shuster has you ladder section, he needed it to hold up his dinette table

I don't know what happened to the emu, but he ain't there. The only good view I got of a critter last trip was a cottonmouth, but we just avoided each other. I suspect with all the brush piles now we should see an explosion in snake populations!
I wouldn't be surprised, I will check under ALL the tables!

Joey, I named that the cedar swamp so's you'd stay outta there.....I figurd you'd spend at least two weeks looking for some cedars and I'd have the cypress all to myself.

Funny stuff! Now I really want to hunt Paradise!
Doesn't sound like a guy will go to long without a game sighting. Of course it may be a bit far from the all-u-can-eat buffet Vance will be craving. Oh what am I saying, Biggie survived, so will Vance!   :goldtooth:   Yall have fun!   :jumper:

Curtis...Biggie always ordered the Ribeye and made me order the "all you can eat Catfish" which should have been renamed "All Biggie could sneak!"

Well, the boys FINALLY made it in around 10:30 tonight. It only took them 14 hours to make a 8 hour trip.
It rained and they got caught behind a tractor trailor pile up. Got 4 hours of "quality time" sitting still on the highway. Wouldn't you have loved to be in that truck!  :scared:
Anyway, they have been fed and are now trying to sort through "stuff" and unload gear so they can bed down for the night.

I will update you guys in the morning when we can think a little clearer..

Possibly a little off topic (There's a topic?   :D  ) but...I experienced my first ever grits in TN this year. What's the point in the stuff??? It's like eating wallpaper paste, mixed with sand, with all the nutritional value of both! Can't see what all the fuss is about, really I can't! Toast & Marmite's what you need. The cornerstone of any nutritional breakfast. Grits, PAH!   "[dntthnk]"    :p

Rob...ya didn't have them with sharp cheddar cheeze sir.....big difference than just plain o'l plain o'l.

And a big dose of cheeze grits covers 2 of the 5 major food groups, then ya need a bacon strip, matter, and nanaer and ya gots yerself covered.

Ya'll got them groups over there aint ya?

Bama boy once asked me, "Yankee, ya ever been in a grits grove?" I kinda had to look at him a tad odd, thinking he was a bit nuts...but then figured he thought I didn't know grits...

"Sure,"says I, "Been in a ton of corn fields all my life!" Grits grove!  "[dntthnk]"

But I do like grits...best w/ red eye gravey but I have to try the cheeze grits, Tarz...

No Terry, the major foodgroups are;

Meat,
Chocolate,
Waffles, (you've got that one right!)
Coffee
& more chocolate.

I thought everyone knew that!  :D  :D

Anything else is just being fancy-shmancy!

What the heck are 'matter & nanaer' anyway?

Here in the north we call them potatoes and bananas.  Either one or both are far better than grits.  And being a cheesehead and all, I think it sounds like a crime to mix good quality sharp cheeder with wallpaper paste and sand!  :p

Tell you what Terry, Texas Sweat '08. You make me some cheesy grits, I'll make you some toast with Marmite. Sort of an 'International Breakfast grudge-match!'  :D

Whip,
You have to be a "damn yankee" not to know that a "matter" is a Tomatoe not a POTATOE. Danged ole cheeseheads anyway, don't you have a Packers game to go watch. :)  Ain't that right Terry?

Good grief, doesn't anyone eat doughnuts anymore?     :wavey:

Grits, nanners, banners, hammers....whatever. A friendly word of advice though: I once had a boss from Australia who decided to offer me some vegemite. Not wanting to be rude, I accepted. Most horrific thing I ever took a single bite of in my life. I swear I thought I was going to have to sand blast the inside of my mouth to get the taste out. I'd rather eat the butt out of a bloated road killed skunk than get within 10 feet of that stuff again.

I'm now convinced that boss actually hated me.   "[dntthnk]"

Personally I like my grits with butter, cream and sugar.  My Grandma from NC taught me to eat them that way.  I do like the red eye gravy or bacon type too.  I prefer my cheese in my buttermilk buiscits.

Finally . . . the Great Gray Grocery Gobbler emerges in the deep south. Might have known he wouldn't be far from Miss Kim's famous Cookies and the fabulous Coots hospitality.
Hang in there Vance, you might even get a chance to do some hunting in between meals and snacks!

Miss Kim, I am thinkin that Mr. Vance is on a cross country hunger feast!! He arrived here on Sunday in time for K.C. Steaks cooked over a hickory and charchol fire, baked potatoes, fresh salad greens, of course he and Charlie just had to have some of the Secret Recipe Fudge. And of course before the guys got out of here, we went to the Thai Gourmet. That place is so awesome!! Charlies favorite place to eat. Then the guys were off and running again!! My 5 Cats waved Happily to Andy puppy as they pulled away from the house. With Halloween Treats for All. Including the Kids. Hunt Well Guys!!

Billie,
Thanks for sending the boys the treats. They have been and will be sugared up for days!

I agree, part of Vance and Charlies cross country jaunt is the food! They both love to eat and seem to enjoy most any fare put in front of them.
They didn't have time to do much but shoot walnuts that have fallen and eat...  :saywhat:
