Well whats the strangest critter you have ever taken?
When I saw this guy coming down the bank about 3' under the surface I did a double or maybe a triple take.

Plecostomus, or plecos, for short! They are the same sucker fish that people have in their aquariums to clean algae off the glass. People let them go in the rivers, and the thrive, and really screw up the river ecosystems. Here is a close up of a few of the ones we shot:

You did good. Those things are pretty invasive!
Here's an example from Colorado.

Nice! When I go to the zoo, I always think, "If only I had a bow fishing rig with me!"
Bisch,
What are those things? I see the name, but are they native to Texas waters?
BTW... You are dangerously close to 10,000 posts!

I added it to my post above^^^. I believe they have them in Florida also. I shot those on a lake here in Central Tx, and it is the only place that I know of that has them here, but there are probably more I just don't know about.

Woah! Those things have some cool camo. Ya good job killing Nemo TJ. FIRST Bambi, now this!
You're right! That is one looking strange critter. The fish seems normal though :biglaugh: :biglaugh:
You guys are having some fun right there!!
Those are strange Bisch. Nice work!
Yep, that is a Japanese Koi. Some are worth a fortune. Not sure that one is, someone probably turned it loose or it got out of a back yard pond in a flood.
FL is ate up with plecos. My mom-in-law lived in Okeechobee, right on the canal around the lake. The locals call them "walking catfish". They won't bite a hook, and are a devil to snag--they are like swimming armadillos. Need a good leather glove to handle the bigger ones--they get quite a bit bigger than the one in the pic.
