This July I turn 40 so will treat myself to a great hunt. A friend and I will fly into a remote lake on the south west side of Kodiak and hunt blacktails for ten days. July 29th we land in Kodiak, July 30 day of Halibut fishing, July 31 fly into backcountry and setup camp. August 1 - 10 highcountry blacktails baby!!!
So jealous!!!
That's a super fun trip. I hunted the Ayakulik River many years ago in September as we did a combo Coho salmon and Sitka hunting float. Absolutely phenomenal trip. Take lots of pictures and bring good bug headnets!
I wanna go lol
Do you need somebody to come along and carry your gear?
Dont feed the bears :D
Looking forward to it guys! If my partner droos out i may need a last minute tradgang replacement.
Good luck on your trip! That's on my bucket list as well. Can't wait to hear the stories you bring back.
Kodiak hunting has always been my favorite. Good hunting and we will look forward to your story and pics.
Take a big bang stick that you are comfortable with also and KEEP IT WITH YOU! Do not take chances on Kodiak!
My kinda girl, would back you up any day ! !
You should have a great trip. One of my favorite hunts is deer on Kodiak.Do not forget to take a fishing pole as a lot of the lakes are good fishing. Take a Sat phone you can rent them in Kodiak from Kodiak Kamps. http://www.kodiakkamps.com

Good advice. They also rent portable bear fences which we used multiple times while camping on Kodiak. And they do work...we had a bear try to come into camp one evening while sleeping in our tents and heard it get lit up by the fence. It pulled the little posts and wire down but sent it off the other direction and we were able to set it back up again in no time. Definitely slept better with that little $80 investment.

Sounds like a great trip! IF you happen to do this again....PLEASE get in on video!! :D
That sounds like an awesome adventure!
What are you going to do with 100+ pounds of fish while you are hunting for the next 10 days?
Good luck,
Bisch
NICE!
My mom has several relatives in Kodiak im sure they will volunteer to HOLD my halibut. Lol. Gonna try not to lose my safety on the bear spray this time!
Thanks for the Kodiak kamps info. Ive heard if them but didnt know who they were
I have rented a phone and other gear from them before and was very happy with them. They will deliver the stuff you rent to your air service and pick it up there.
That is great and Happy Birthday!! I turn 40 on Thursday and the best I could swing was ordering a Powderhorn side quiver from Art Vincent as well as a pocket quiver, which is actually for father's day!!
I'm sure you'll make some great memories!! Best of Luck.
Fantastic!! Have a great hunt!!
Awesome! Pleeeeeaaase take a bunch of pics so we can live through you.

If it was me, I'd keep it in the tent where it would be safe. ;)
Not going to find many blacktails in Cold Bay! LOL
I did manage to go on a few hikes with my can of bear spray and see a couple of caribou down at the end of that peninsula. The locals thought I was nuts. Yep, no blacktails.
Will be looking forward to reading of this coveted experience.
Enjoy!
Thanks everyone! Thr hard part is deciding which bow to bring?! Been shooting my dads black widow good, love my Centaurs and have a new RER longbow on the way. Oh yeah and my beloved Super D. I think the RER will be number one with the. Black widow as backup.....
