Title: Quiver
Post by: AZ_Longbow on May 12, 2016, 11:58:00 AM
Was having a hard time finding what I wanted. Out in AZ I wanted to be able to carry a day pack worth of stuff including water, and Strapping one to a backpack was a pain. And I carry a handgun so a waist pouch was out.
I wanted a canteen, a fixed blade, a few pouches. I started with some leather tries. Needless to say it did not end well for me. So I went to nylon and molle. A few trips to the craft store, the cloth store and the surplus store later.  (http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u442/Arizona_Bowhunter/DSC00569_zpsjj2dn5wv.jpg)
I can pull arrows from the side or top. It's quiet, keeps my broadhead secure, I can put it on and take it off fast. It carry's more than enough for a full day. With enough for an emergency overnight including one of those mylar space blankets.

That's set for a right-handed shooter. Was weird at first having the fletches on my left side. But was easy to side draw and it made it alot less movement. Now to see how many more little tweaks till I am finally happy.  If you can't find what you want, seems it's best to just make it.

Awesome quiver! I had an idea for something very similar using molle straps to customize bag placement but yours looks a lot better than mine on paper. Is that a rifle scabbard the arrows are in?

Yep it started out life as a scabbard, a few modifications, cuts and stitches. Some reinforcements added to the mix to make it safe for big cuthroats broadheads. A now I am 97% satisfied with it. I Want to make it in some new colors though.

I've got one of those shotgun scabbards I picked up somewhere for a couple bucks, never used. I had thought about making it into a quiver, but I figured any kind of broadhead would just chew up the inside. What did you reinforce the inside with?

Yes, Doug's question on the inside reinforcement is a question I have as well. Gonna get the scabbard in and just wing it at the moment. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Shape formed kydex and rubber carpet squares. Won't get smelly and really tough.
