Does anyone know of any good quality shooting gloves? my damascus tends to make me pluck the string.
Nope I'm afraid it's not the glove my friend. It be you.
Flyguy is right but if your looking for a great glove the American leathers kangaroo crossover is hard to beat
I also recommend " American leathers " glove. I have the cross over in buffalo leather. The best glove I've found!
Using a tab instead may help, and there are gloves known for a good release. Sending you a PM to discuss options.
There are many fine gloves available. While a glove in and of itself won't cure plucking (ask me how I know!), a glove that's not right for you will make it more of a problem.
As far as which one, if you tell us what you're looking for in a glove, we can narrow down some options for you.
Keep in mind that the Damascus glove is pretty much the thinnest one out there - going right to a very different style could take some getting used to. That Damascus gives you a lot of "string feel", some other gloves don't.
That said, I shot a Damascus a long time. Like that string feel, but wanted just a little more of a glove. After following glove threads a long while, I ended up getting a Kangaroo leather glove from Big Jim's. In a nutshell, it's a definite step up from the Damascus (and yes, I get a little better release with it; still very soft, thin, supple, excellent string feel (better than the D.), and a little better finger protection.
The Black Widow PDQ is a great glove at a great price.
