My first shot at a game animal with my long bow and I miss. Instead of picking a spot I shot at "turkey". I did manage to hit my decoy though. A miss with a long bow is better than a hit with a shotgun, for me anyway, I have killed a bunch with a gun. What's upsetting is I came home and shot in the yard and hit every I shot at. Must have been buck fever. NEXT TIME!!!
Your not alone I had a tom sneak in from the right side very early and he was in the decoys before I spotted him. I rushed the shot because he was getting nervous and shot under him.
You didn't miss. It wAs just a practice shot using the decoy as a target!! :dunno: :dunno:
Exact same story here, hope you can get a second chance
I think that's one of the easiest mistakes to make bow hunting
I can relate. My first shot of the season was dead on resulting in a short recovery. My second shot was a clean miss at a gobbler standing on top of my decoy. I know why I missed. Gobbler fever!!!! Lol
Did the same thing this past Tuesday. I hate when that happens.
I still suffer with it. But if I take time to calm down and pick a spot it usually turns out different. Keep after them.
Jeff
Sounds like gobbler fever to me! At least you got a shot! Stay after them and you'll get one next time.
Season closes here tomorrow. I'm hoping to make good in the morning. :archer2:
