does anybody shoot this bow? I have a 2014 model and i shoot pretty well with it. I just wanted to hear your expierences.
Hmm sorry, no. I have a grizzly on permanent loan to a friend though and the only thing I think it needed was a FF low stretch string. That and a leather grip. My hand always slid out of place when my hand sweats, the scourge of dixie. If a super can take a FF, I can't imagine why it wouldnt be an awesome bow. However... to play devils advocate, that money will get you any number of awesome bows as well.
can you tell any difference between it and a standard grizz? how does it compare?
never shot the standard grizz to be honest, but im sure its a great bow
I have shot both like both. But i didn't feel that the super was worth the extra hundred to get ff. So i have a grizzly and love it. They say the super is suppose to be everything that the grizzly is but because it boasts a double core of maple versus a single core it is supposed to be smoother drawing and shooting. I could not tell the difference. You also get an accent stripe in the riser and black riser versus a brown. In 2014 the regular grizzly had a red hue to them and they were so beautiful. Since then they have gone to a brownish color which I have and is not as pretty as the red IMO. The super grizzly is made all the way up to 65 lbs where as the grizzly stops at 60 so that is cool if you like heavier bows. However if you are debating between the two I would get the Grizzly and just have one of our excellent string makers make you a b55 string it is great material way better than b50 and its for bows like the grizzly that are not ff compatible. Just my two cents. If you are willing to spend the money on a super grizzly I might consider spending 60 or so more bucks and getting a maple super kodiak. I recently picked up a similar priced bear bow, the AuSable and it is my favorite bow now. But the grizzly will always have a place on my rack. Dependable quiet and dead in the hand. I have heard the grizzly called the working mans bow, because it is affordable and a work horse, which I can really get behind. I mean you still see 50 year old bows in the field every year. Yes you can get customs for the price of some bear bows.... But I love bear bows.
I have a vintage Super Grizzly that was ordered at 60lbs. but actually weighs in at 63. I love this bow, and shot it for many years. I can't compare with the new models, as I haven't shot one. I've handled several, and the workmanship looked good on all. As long as you are happy with yours, I'd say shoot it and enjoy it. Hope it gives you as many years of memories as mine has for me.
