I just recently swapped to 3u and was wondering how many people are shooting split as compared to three under.
ugghh I'm wondering myself. Originally started split then changed to 3 under on my 60" recurve. Traded it, got a 58" recurve and was not happy with my shooting, finally one day I was messing around and shot split finger and since then I was just nailing stuff! For some reason going back to split finger works well for me with that bow.
Long story short, spit, for the moment at least.
Split for me!

Split for me too!
Numbers are opposite of what I expected so far, hardly anybody other than the strictly target shooters I know shoot three under. I do believe three under probably makes being accurate easier for beginners at the ranges we normally shoot stick bows, I've just been shooting split for so long I don't desire to try and change
3 under for me!
Split
I switched to 3 under last year and my accuracy increased instantly.
3 under for me
Split
I shoot split but the guys I shoot with are better shots and they shoot 3 under.
3 under
Started 3 under and would have times of wonderful accuracy and times where I could not hit he side of a barn. Switched this year to split and after a few weeks I am shooting more consistent than I ever have.

Me too. Split.

I switched from split to 3 under a year ago
Definative there is an advantage.
That advantange remains with the individual.
Went from split to 3 under, now back to split. Split feels more natural for me.
3 under- but i also adhere to the "rick welch" method of shooting

3 under. I feel like I get a cleaner release with it, and I can get the arrow closer to my eye, which I feel helps me keep my windage on point.
Three Under....
three under just dont work with me - more noise and awkward feeling...somethings wrong...
Split finger
split finger for me.

Started split 40 years ago..! Went to 3 under 7 years ago. HUGE difference in accuracy. 3 under all the way...
Double post....ooops!
Started three under, but have switched to split. I seem to be more consistent shooting split
For some reason, split finger is more natural... in my mind?
I'm not sure why, but split finger is the only way I've considered.
I was surprised to find out how many people shoot 3-under!
Split for me I tried 3U but could never get comfortable with it.
I started shooting split years ago. I switched to three under for awhile. I was more consistently accurate. But I didn't like the noise I got from the bow and I didn't feel like I could cant the bow either. So I switched back to split.
The results are interesting. Almost 50/50.

Depends on the day for me. I will switch back and forth all the time unfortunately. I feel 3 U is better when I want to "think" when I am shooting. When I want to whip up and nail something without a second thought I definitely prefer split finger.
I have tested and found I shoot higher 3D scores shooting 3U, but when it comes to shooting running rabbits I can really nail them shooting split finger.
In the end I don't know? Enjoy the ride I guess... SS
I started with 3 under. Got new bow and was determined to learn split. Shoot split now. I like that the bow is quieter. I used to get frustrated about my release but I think I've got it now. I got a lot of help here
Split - I see the advantages of three under but it's not for me, I have tried
3 under for me.
I agree with J. Holden. I started split and then after 10 yrs tried 3U. I was extremely acurrate but hated the extra noise that 3U created. I also struggled with 3U when canting the bow. If I was only target shooting, I'd stay with 3U...BUT, I'm a hunter and prefer the quicker & quieter results from shooting split. I tried Dan Toelke's method of shooting split am getting excellent results. His whip bows are INCREDIBLE too !
3 under!
I voted 3 under because that's what I have been shooting since I switched to shooting southpaw. Funny thing though, I occasionally shoot right handed just so I don't forget how, and shoot split.

split for me. 3 under just feels weird.

Split for me. Always.

I started experimenting with 3u and 2u about 3 yrs ago because of a crooked index finger causing nock pinch.
I can now shoot either way. I trained myself to position my fingers shooting split so that I dont pinch the nock
I vote Split because I feel more comfortable shooting split.
Have experimented with 3u for a couple of months now and believe for target shooting it is more accurate but will stick with split for all other shooting.
Split
split, 3U, split and now back to 3U!
I can shoot either way, prefer split most of the time.
Split for me. I have messed around with three under lately, but I guess I'm an old dog that can't be taught new tricks. I do shoot three under as well or better in the back yard with a vertical bow and target form, but I can shoot better with split when it comes to manufacturing shots from odd angles and difficult positions. If I were to get serious about target archery I would probably go three under. But for hunting I will stick with 36 years of split.
Split for me since I started out. Since we are at it: I know a bow tillered for split finger will require a higher nocking point than usual for 3U, but does it change much to have a bow tillered even and shot split. Mostly referring to any issues with limb timing and noise. Just wondering so thanks for any reply! Pat
I've tried shooting 3 under, may even shoot decent at times with 3 under, but it just doesn't feel natural or comfortable for me. I feel like I'm forcing it when I try to shoot 3 under.
Started with split, then tried 3 under, then went back to split.
Split
Split.
Split for me, too old to change I guess.
LD
Split now after shooting 3u for 30 years. Wasn't hard to switch. Easier tune for me.
3 under
Split
I can't wait to bid on the St Judes Auction!!!
I guess I am not smart enough to know that I have to chose...I actually do not shoot 3 under since I find that two under works better for me...I also shoot split finger, both 3 and 2 fingers...once again I am more consistent with 2
DDave
I do both , but I use slit the most.
Split- 3U for a summer, and now back to split.
Feels better - I've also been experimenting with 2U Split. I really like the 2U, but if I am not conciously telling myself to use 2U, I will find my top finger making its way back to its familiar split location.
