Title: Dirty limbs

Seen this referenced lately, mostly to longbows.  Does it only apply to bamboo limbs?  And is it a finish or natural process of building bamboo limbs?

"dirty bamboo" is a naturally stained bamboo that some bowyers are using under clear glass.

I have never owned  a bow with dirty boo, but will some day. Love the looks of it.
