What is the difference between left vs right helica. From my research most seem to think nothing or that it doesn't matter.
Fixing to pull the trigger on a blitzenburger and was just wondering before I order.
If it makes any difference I will be setting up arrows for left handed bow.
Also anyone have a glue recommendation? In years past I've used goat tuff but that doesn't seem to be the going rage with trad folk.
Thanks for helping me understand the differences and or benefits.
I would probly go with right helical, I usually use fletch tite platinum on carbon or on wraps. I really don't think it matters on which direction just personal preference.
I use either or off the same bow, buy whichever then save your lunch money up to buy the other one so if you ever get wild turkey feathers, you can use both wings. I use bohning platinum and I always use wraps
Thanks guys!
I used to use Right wing and had an issue with feather cuts when using my longbow with a small shelf. Switched to left wing, end of problem. I am a right handed shooter. I use tape for all my fletching.
I use right helical. The added benefit of helping keep points tight upon target impact was noteworthy, to me. I used Fletch Tite for years, then learned after many years away that the Platinum does not adhere well to some shafts. Decided to try the fletch tape, and like it very much. Quick, clean & easy. I use a tiny drop of Arrow Mate or Fletch-It glue on the ends of the feathers, and they hold well. All that I got from 3 Rivers.
I bought left wing because all my buddies had right wing, now I can share my right wing turkey feathers with them
I have 2 bitz jigs.... one right wing the other left. I think that right wing is easier because of the way the clamp fits onto the jig. Arrow flight is exactly the same.
Good luck, shoot straight, and God Bless.
Rodd
Thanks guys! Got it all ordered now.
Arnette, lol, that is funny!

I thought I was the only one that thought this.
For some shooters, left or right doesn't matter, but for others it will. For a left hand shooter, I suggest right helical.
Flex-Fletch Flex-Bond Adhesive is the best I have found for glue
If you ever will shoot a single bevel broadhead you will want to match your fletch twist with your bevel twist.

Me three
I also have 2 bitz jigs, I find that after some adjustment my left wing fits the jig better. Maybe it's because I adjust the right one to accommodate my straight clamp and right clamp. I don't mess with the left one.
I had the same problem as luvnlongbow...and the same solution, it's pretty common. Fletching cuts are painful and I've never heard of anyone having a problem with it if they used fletching opposite of their dominant hand. It just seems to get that leading edge of the cock feather sufficiently misaligned with the tender web of your thumb. It is worthy to note that this is the only time you will see me endorse anything that could be remotely described as "left wing"!
right hand shooter with right wing fletch, cock feather down or in gets rid of the contact with your hand. You will however still get fletching wear on the cock feather if shooting off the shelf.
With wood arrows to keep the hen feather from going straight down I rotate the shaft an eighth turn and tack the nock with a dab of hot melt, then rotate the nock one eighth turn to reallign the nock to the grain. counter clockwise for left wing and clockwise for right wing. An easy way is to go with four fletch, nothing else is required.
I use left helical but only because that's what my jig is, but they have been great. The weird thing is I switched from 4 fletch to 3 fletch and seemed to get a better arrow flight.
Thanks guys for all the help, knowledge and suggestions.
Seems at times there aren't as many color options with right wing feathers.
