Title: Arrow build
Post by: kountzer0 on April 23, 2016, 11:51:00 PM
Hello all, just getting started with building arras...wanted to share this.

Was aiming for 500 grain total weight (10gpp) as I have nothing other than rules of thumb to base that on, I was hoping to get a quieter, more efficient shot, as well as better FOC.

I took a few of the carbon shafts I had, did some calculations, settled on 500gr as a target and sacrificed one of my old aluminum gamegetters to the cause of getting a bullet proof deer arrow ready.

2 inches of gamegetter feet (foots? footings?), 150gr FP, std aluminum insert (21gr i think?) with a 55gr 6mm varmint bullet epoxied behind the insert in a 400 spine shaft.

Based on my reloading scale, I got 496gr +/- 1 in 3 arrows with 18% FOC as measured by hand.

Purdy close, hope they fly well.  See them here if I get the code right:
