In 6-8 weeks we will have new dies made for our double bevel Grizzly! This head will be FULLY triple laminated. Not just a tip reinforcement like other double bevel heads but the full length will be laminated. Because of the full triple lamination this head will be incredibly strong. I have also figured a way to get it down to 125 grains and still be triple laminated. The estimated price point will be $35-$37 for 6 glue on heads. Of course we will also make them available in a screw on.
Yep! I'm excited to finally be bringing this project forward!!
Bill
I also need to thank Tom Jenkins for his help with the cad drawings! THANK YOU SIR!!

This sounds like something I would for sure be interested in. I love the Instincts.
-
I'm glad the news is out! I can't wait, they look incredible!
-
Great news.
-
Nice...how wide will they be?
-
Good deal, are they going to have the width and length as the single bevels?
-
I've lost count of the number of different broadheads I've used through the years.
I'm sure that the double bevel grizzlies will be excellent heads.
I just received the single bevel grizzly broadheads I had ordered and am impressed at the improvements since the last time I tried grizzlies 15-20 (?) years ago.
Since I'm a relatively heavy bow and arrow guy I also really like the 235 grain weight and I'm especially looking forward to seeing the hole/damage from those nice wide blades.
The beasts I manage to get in range of this year are going to be in trouble!
-
The double bevel version will be 1 1/8" cut and the same length as the single bevel, Grizzly. The double bevel will also have the same tanto tip as the single bevel.
We should have a picture of a prototype up shortly.
Hopefully those Kodiak's will bring you some luck, Ken.
-
Bill I like the sound of that.
-
Will they also be offered in 160, 190, and 200 grains?
-
Ah shucks! Can't wait to get one bloody. This is a great head as usual from our Zipper gang!

125,150,175,200 grains. Those weights can easily be manipulated by just inserting a very small lead sinker.
-
Awesome!!!!!
And thank you for keeping the prices reasonable! Some broadheads are getting pretty high in price. Love the fact that there are still great quality heads at affordable prices. Other manufacturers need to follow suit. There are other heads out there I refuse to buy just because of their price.... I will be ordering a few dozen of these when available!
Thank you again for great heads and again keeping the prices real.

Bill..a question for my own curiosity...obviously you cant use a 2 lam head for a double bevel as the seam would be on the edge...but you could grind the 3 lam head into a single bevel...right?

Yep
Well....I guess that is a bit of a loaded question. Could we grind THIS triple laminated head into a single bevel. Yes, absolutely! Should you grind a head that only has a triple lamination at the tip and not the full lenght of the head. No you should not. Not in my opinion.
Jason, We do all we can to keep the cost of our heads down and at the end of the day keep the bills paid. Luckily a double bevel head is quick and easy to grind on our grinders. In fact it is about 3 times faster to grind this 125 grain double bevel than it is our 125 grain single bevel.
-
Can I ask why? It seems that the original single bevel had it all. 3 to 1 ratio, bone busting single bevel, S shaped wound channel. Just curious.
-
You know what they say, if it ain't broke don't fix it...I love the grizzly single bevel
-
I think it's a great idea. Just another option to choose, from a quality manufacturer. I'll likely try some.
Now you'll have pretty much all corners of the trad broadhead market covered.
-
Very cool
-
Awesome!
-
I like both single and double bevel blades so I'm glad the Grizzly's will be in both configurations. My question is will they be hunt sharp ready from the package?
-
I say "give the people what they want" and if some folks want a double bevel Grizzly, go for it!
I think this would be a good setup for deep penetration for normal (non-heavy bone) hits when using light bows. Seeing where bow weight is going, this could be hot!

Sounds really good.Look forward to seeing the finished product
-
Any plans on doing a 1 1/2 inch cut single bevel, along with the double bevel?
-
Sounds like something well worth trying this year!
-
Caleb, Michael There are many who prefer not to use a single bevel. This will give them an option to take advantage of the proven design of the Grizzly and still use the double bevel grind they are use to. We have had lots of people ask for this head in a double bevel grind. I fully expect the single bevel Grizzly to still be our main player. This is another option and in my opinion an improvement over much of what is available.
Bryce, They will be ground to a good burr just like the single bevel version. They will have to be honed before hunting with them.
Sorry, Dan. I have no plans of a 1 1/4" wide version at this time. Dies are far to expensive to make for that.
-
Bill,
I have only one problem.... I dont kill enough critters to justify buying more broadheads than the couple dozen I already have. At my current rate, I am already stocked for life lol.
This sounds like an excellent head and it sounds like you (and TJ) have put a lot of work into it.
Congratulations. I look forward to seeing pictures.
-
Folks this isn't some little head for deer shooting. This is a VERY serious hard-core head, tough as nails, that will be easily at home tackling the largest and toughest game.
I'd wager to guess I have more heads then most and I'll be buying some!
-
we will be using the 3 blade instincts next weekend for hogs.....looking forward to using these 3 blades....yeah...double bevels ;)
-
Sorry about the lack of prototype picture I promised. Some supposed "update" has changed the way I have to upload pictures and with my very limited knowledge of computers I can not seem to figure it out! This is why I work with wood an steel. If it gives you fits you just git a bigger hammer! :D
I can email the picture to someone if they can post it.

Terry keep us posted on the performance of the grizzly instincts. I have just ordered them, and will be chasing hogs in May!
-
Bill will all the weights be the same length and width? Will the heavier heads just have heavier steel in the them? I can't wait to see them, I hope you will have some at Denton Hill.

Thanks for posting the picture for me.
The prototype in the picture is a bit rusty because I hunted with it in the rain multiple times this winter.
Jack, The length and width will stay the same for all of the weights. Just like the single bevel Grizzly's the weight will be adjusted by steel thickness.
-
This is gonna be great can't
wait to try some.
-
Good work, Bill!

The instinct head is deadly on hogs. You still have to do your part however.
-
I got a batch of Instincts tuned up for hogs for the last week of april. I think they will be excellent, just a hair wider than a woodsman.
-
Head looks amazing! I am one of those that prefer double bevel heads.
This is awesome and for a great price. I still love my magnus 1 2 blade wide heads but you can bet these will be on the end of my wife's arrows and both of my kids arrows. I can't wait for these to come out!
Nice to be able to get a quality 3-1 style head of this quality and get the 3 dozen I need for the wife and kids and only pay about 225 bucks rather than 520 bucks.
Very very very well done!!!!
-
Thanks Bill.
-
Looks like a head the average guy can sharpen. Single bevels are a mystery to me.
-
I DO like that ferrul going that close to the tip....strong!
-
I made 200 grain Grizz Kodiak into a double bevel with a file. I made up a near 700 grain arrow for a big pig I am after. No doubt if I can get close and do my part it will work. It is a solid 375 lb pig.RC
-
Thats a lot of bevel for a two bevel head. These are going to be something.
-
Great looking broadhead Bill !!! Now both single and double bevel fans can enjoy the awesome performance of a Grizzly broadhead.
-
The first run of Bruin broadheads are now at the brazer! :jumper:
-
Looks great Bill!
:campfire:
-
I like it !
-
I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product too!
-
Great looking head Bill...can't wait to try some!
 :clapper:
-
That's a great news!!!
-
Bill, I can't wait to get my hand on a couple of those.
-
When will these be available to buy
Thanks
doug77
-
looks great. does the ferrule extend closer to the tip on the bruins than it does on the single bevels? it looks alot closer.
i'd love to see that on the single bevels.
-
Doug, The 125 grain and 200 grain heads are at the brazers now. The 150 and 175 grin will go to the brazer this week. It usually takes 3-4 weeks to get heads through the brazing, heat treat, and coating process. Then we can start grinding them.
Clint, the head in the picture is a prototype. The tip is shorter than the actual Bruin is. These Bruin heads will appear exactly as the Grizzly does except double bevel. They also have a third lamination in the center. That third lamination is what allows us to grind them into a double bevel.
-
Great!!!!
-
i see, cheers. i'm sure they will prove to be popular
-
Good Stuff....150s would work for me.
-
I might Have to get some of them
