This is probably a silly question but how many of you guys take this shot? Years ago I missed enough strutting turkeys or got nothing but feathers that I pretty much stopped shooting at them while they were in full strut, instead waiting for them to come out of strut. But while hunting with a buddy (my season is later) we had one come right in and dance around the decoy in full strut. The bird faced directly away from us at 7 yards for a really long time and I could have shot him a bunch of times right up through the vent. So is it as high percentage as people say? Just wanna know for sure before I'm out hunting this season. Good luck guys.
I would take that shot all day long. I've killed a few turkey's in my time but all were broadside. I wouldn't hesitate to Texas Heart Shot one.
Gives you a "bullseye" to focus on, too.
Deadly brother.

All day long......

Absolutely deadly. My second bird last year was shot in the vent. Great opportunity to draw the bow and take your time aiming. Season opens here Saturday. I can't wait!!
Mine opens this coming Monday. That whole leads right up into all the goodies. I take that shot fore sure.
Thanks guys. These are pretty much the responses I was expecting. Guess I'll try to shoot one where the sun don't shine!
Tried it once at 5yds, had two birds to aim at neither would turn and give me the shot I wanted. So I thought I would try it perfect shot right through the vent, he flipped and flopped like only a turkey can do then lay still at 15yds.
When the feathers all settled back down to the earth I unzipped the door took one step out and he jumped up ran by me got air. I lost sight of him at 150yds, took me a long time to find were that bird went but I found were he hit the ground and tracked him from there.
Complete pass thru, large broadhead I seen weirder things happen but I will and have passed that shot since. I've killed a lot of turkeys and I have my favorite shots that put them down quick, I will stick to them. But that's just me :D
Good luck!
Tracy
It's the shot I set my dekes up for
