I'm shooting a Jet bow @ 51# ,26.25 DL. Bow is dead on @ 51.lbs @ my DL. I'm shooting 2016 with 176 gr. points and they hit the center. I went to this point weight cause they were striking the target left of center. I progressed through 100 gr points,up to current 176 gr point. I would like to shoot a lighter arrow with a lighter point weight. I know the 2016 @ 28.05" is to stiff.I'm thinking 2014 eclipse shafts because I target shoot ( not hunt with this bow)a lot. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Yep, 2014 or 1916 with a little lighter point weight.

Everyone has their own energy levels in their release. For bows in the low 50s I get by with 1918s with 175s and 200 that are 27" bop and I have a set of test shafts that are 28" bop 1918s with 145 up front that also work well, but they are for longer armed guys to decide what their draw and spine requirements would be for wood arrows. It seems that when an aluminum arrow gets stiff, it gets stiff at a quicker ratio than wood. With woods we find that a spine may be kind of stiff while an aluminum with the same dynamics will get suddenly and obviously stiff with length and point weight reductions. I have seen a lot of guys with 26 plus draws get good flight with 1816s with 27" bop and 125 or 145 points with Hill style longbows.

1916's should serve you well.

Gary, if you'd like to try a 1916, let me know. I'll be glad to send you a couple.
I want to keep a few of them, but I shoot mostly carbons.

I have a couple 1916s that I cut a little short (27.5")which fly okay with a 176 gr. point but I wanted to get away from the heaver points. I also had two uncut 1816s which I cut to 29" added a 125gr. points and they fly well out of this bow.Plus the circumference of the shaft fits the narrow bow shelf well. Thats dam descent of you Ron, Thanks but I'm good here.Bye the way is that pic of the dog in your avatar still with us?

He's very much still with us. He just turned 8 and the clown thinks he owns my bed

Gary, if you shoot a 125 grain broadhead mounted on a long adapter you will be closer to 145 grains. You may need to shorten that 1816 an inch or more. I got some 18/64 145 grain target points from 3 rivers to match that set up for those here that preferred the 1816s over wood. I also found that out of a standard Hill style set up, that 45-50 Wapiti tapered cedars with 145s worked the same for 26.5 to 27.5" bop arrows out of the same bows. Which for me is really convenient, because a number of the guys that I make arrows for fall right into the spans of 45 to 55 spines with 145 grains and thanks to the Ribtec sale, I have lots of 145 grain Ribtecs for them.

I dyed the flecthing with one pack of cherry flavored Kool-aid. Perfect match with the one stringer wraps. To all who helped thanks.
