Let's talk...who's going and when....I may never get to Africa...but buiz can take me to NZ...then I could stay and hunt OZ for Buff.
Not any time soon mind you...we are talking a year out.....
Anyone going anytime sooner or later...lets here what you are planing and what's going on now. I would LOVE for to do this as it would be a hunt of a lifetime for me.
I have a buddy who killed 4 buffs in one hunt over there with his recurve. The pics he showed me of the hunting and the very primitive camp they stayed in looked awesome.
I bet we hear from Ben and Clint and a few of the other Aussies before long!
Good luck in your quest terry!

Man, it would be the experience of a lifetime for sure.
Don't know of anyone who has made the trip since Melville shut down.
Here's a good read to get the wheels turning...

I will be there for buff bowhunting in few weeks, hoping to get close enough for the recurve bow.
After playing with several set up I finally ended up with a 940 gr arrow tipped with a Tuffhead BH.
My wife and I are going to NZ and Australia March next year. I am HOPING to get a short hunt in. I will be watching this closely !!!
there is some really outstanding hunting in NZ. what do you plan to hunt there?
good luck with it all.
Going with "hybridbow hunter" to hunt buff in Australia nex june. Not sure about the setup or bow but i am sure will be an incredible experience. Second time in Australia for me.
Jorge and Hybridbow Hunter: Which outfitter are you going with, out of curiosity?
Hey TG, let's talk. Looks like we are on a similar timeline for NZ/Oz.
Thom
Ben we go with Mick Baker
Hello Jorge June is coming fast !
For sure a great time with friendly mates and if we can see close enough some big brutes it will great
Excellent, he knows his stuff and bowhunting is all he does... and, he's killed buffalo himself with tradbows.
Best of luck Terry, sounds like fun...
Would luv to try it someday, maybe after retirement in about 5-1/2 years, but I'm a do it yourselfer, and don't know it that can be done on public land down under???
Ben, i was hunting with Mick some years ago, he knows about bowhunting and he walks the extra mile. I think is the best option for us.
and yes, june is close !!
Zbone, it really can't be done on public land. We have very little public land. It is all private property (cattle stations) or Aboriginal land.
Variety and a new experience should likely be the next dream. However, my number one prominent desirable adventure remains in returning to the New Zealand North Island to pursue Red Stags.
Am steadily working a plan, yet not to come to fruition in the immediate future.
Can you hire me to video the whole "business" trip? I can be a tax write off ;)
Hmm.......
Sounds like a "bucket list" trip to me.
My sister is moving to Melbourne this spring and I have conveniently planned a trip tp visit in April 2017 which happens to coincide with the red stag roar season. No buff on this trip but for an elk hunting addict sure am looking forward to chasing red stag.
I'm on a little trip right now I'll answer and post back next week.....sneaking in or read them then thanks guys
Ben Kleinig - Thanks for the info... Guess I'll remove it from my bucket list...
Indeed a trip to dream about. Good luck at making it happen. I am already looking forward the stories and picts. Curt I think a NZ Aussie hunt DVD would be a legit business venture. Just sayin'.
Just returning from my little trip Curt I would love to have a camera man that would be great but under one condition you would have to hunt also I will answer emails tomorrow as I'm trying to catch up as well as answer other questions on this thread tomorrow
