Title: Kodiak Magnum Draw Length?
Post by: Caughtandhobble on April 04, 2016, 06:09:00 AM
What is the max draw length on the 52" Kodiak Magnum? I am considering getting one but I have a rather long draw length and these are rather short bows.

I had a couple. Never hunted with them. Had fun shooting them. I was drawing them to 29", and could feel them struggling. They are a beautiful, fun bow, but there are better short bows that handle longer draws. I would've liked to have hunted with mine. I reckon I would've made it work really well down in the desert against wild goats. But never quite got that opportunity, unfortunately.

I will echo what Ben stated.  I feel like they started to start right past 28".  I use mine for bow fishing and absolutely love it.  I never feel it stacking while chasing fish.  I liked mine a lot.

I own one and am going to sell it.  29" is about it.  I draw 31" and that is clearly too much.

They start to stack past 28 or so but there certainly are people who draw pat 28 using them. What is your draw length? If you draw 31 or something really long I would pass. Wish mine hadn't failed on me.

Thanks everyone. I am afraid it may not work for me with a 30.5" draw... There's a 50 year old one in the TG classifieds that looks new that got my attention, guess I'll leave her for somebody else.

Thanks,
Ben

There are lots and lots and lots of reports here on Trad Gang and elsewhere of people regularly drawing these bows to 30.5 inches (and even 31) and shooting very well with them.

I draw mine to 29 and feel no stacking. I have another bow of a different brand that was spec'd at 27 inches and it stacks right about 28.75.

The Kodiak Magnum has a well-deserved reputation for being a good shooting bow. I was an idiot to shy away from owning one for several years.

It "might" be the case that the Grayling bows handle longer draw lengths better than the Gainesville ones. The draw length on the former was listed at "unlimited" for a while.

Mine starts stacking noticeably at 28". My draw is 28.5-29, but being a light weight bow I've never minded it, and it hasn't seemed to hurt the bow any. 30.5 might be pushing it however.

I would agree with this 100%.  Have a 48# Grayling KMag and a 55# Gainesville KMag.  Only 7# difference but very different draw "feel".  The 55 is butter smooth but stops abruptly at 28.5", the 48 has a little hitch from 6-18" and a silky ride to my 29.25" draw length.  I have a hunch the 48 could go further...
