I have spoke with Teresa several times this week, as she finalizes the design for her upcoming pants. We are to the point where she has my measurements, and is cutting out the prototype! I should have them soon, I hope I get to wear them during turkey season. Teresa is very excited about this new development....she has been asked for YEARS to come out with an affordable, functional pair of wool pants. True to her work ethic, she has avoided it until she was sure of her design....now we will try them in the field a bit before releasing them to the public. I CAN"T WAIT!! :clapper:
Sweet!!! If the pants are anything like the pullovers she has been making they'll be awesome!!! I'll definitely be waiting for the full report.
Teresa made me a pair over a year ago.
After using them a season I needed to send them back to her for some alteration/changes.
They were very comfortable and warm.
I was hoping I'd have to have them taken in but because some health issues that hasn't been needed since my weight didn't drop..
God bless,Mudd
Well that's cool!
What about pics ??! It didn't happen without pics :campfire:
Is there any chance for a pre-order sale ?
Heck yea, can't wait.
Boy, hope they can be available for bear hunting this spring.
I hope they have suspender loops similar to First Lite so that a pack belt wont sit over buckles or heavy buttons
Tim
Nice  Can wait to see them.
I look forward to getting a pair.
:clapper: very cool!
On my wish list!
Awsome can't wait . I am in for a couple pair . Love the Asbell wool and products. :clapper: :clapper:
As long as they aren't plaid ,hope they would be solid ,,, or they may look like 70s style .
I want some!
I'll order a pair as soon as they come out!
Was kinda actually hoping they WOULD be plaid, with some sweet bell bottoms!!
Well, maybe not plaid, or bell bottoms, but I have been wishing they,d start selling wool pants!!
Sweet! Ready when she is..
Here's a matching shirt and pants that Teresa made for me years ago. She made them out of blanket wool. She also made the otter hat, I made the elk skin moccasin boots, they were lined with shearling wool

Yea,I hope they wouldn't be plaid. Hopefully solid color.

The first pair that she is making for me will be solid gray. I think (not confirmed) that most will be either gray or green. That isn't to say plaid pants are out of the question.
For my use....gray or green is all I would want.
Sounds like Teresa will be getting some more of my money shortly. Cargo pockets a possibility?

Yes...the pants will have cargo pockets, 2 front pockets, and rear pockets.
Just as an inside view to how much care goes in to Teresa's designs.....we have spent probably an hour discussing what goes INTO those pockets...
The pants I receive will be the prototype. We may tweak some things depending on how they work out.
Teresa absolutely intends these to be for sale very quickly, so that folks can order them in time for fall hunting plans.
Sounds great Rodger, thanks for the info.
I'd like a lower bow limb pocket on the leg....
This is a very needed product for the market. Smart move Asbells!
Pair of wool pants same weight as my jacket (22-24 oz) would cover a LOT of bases for this kid.
Look forward to your thoughts/pixs Roger
Solid grey & green will be fine with me.
Plaid pants just make me think of Herb Tarlek (WKRP)
Will these pants have both suspender buttons and belt loops to hold a 2" belt? I hope so. Also, the cargo pants would be very good with the bellows style construction like the WWII paratrooper uniforms had. Might look funny, but they would hold a lot of stuff.
Herb Tarlek, LOL!
Yep, gray or green is perfect
I find that on my wool Day One pants that I LOVE, the cargo flap is oversized AND has two buttons at separate distances in order to secure the pocket closed with little OR a lot in it.
Limb tip pocket on calf!
A smart man wears both a belt AND suspenders....just in case :bigsmyl:

I honestly don't know what Teresa is going to do about suspender buttons or loops. We talked about it extensively, When we ended the conversation on suspenders neither one of were sure what to do. She is messing around with patterns now....we shall see.
If it sounds like Teresa thinks every detail of her garments through 110%, she does. Know that she reads every word of what we chat about here, weighs every option. Couple that with her sincere commitment to producing a wool garment, RIGHT HERE IN MICHIGAN, USA, that we can all afford.....well, she really does lay awake at night thinking about this stuff.
Maybe an extra layer over the knee's,I crawl around a bit in the woods.
Leland
x2 on the limb tip pocket- i often use the top of my muck boots for the same. would be a handy addition.
They're gonna sell alot of these....
Is there a scheduled launch date for this new product?
Sure would be nice if Teresa would have a few pair at Denton this summer.
And how about a fleece lining option......
I am not certain of the exact "launch date" but it is soon. She wants to make them available well in advance of hunting season.
Longbow58, I would expect them to be on display at Denton Hill.
Wasapt - I haven't asked, but I doubt she will offer to line them with fleece. There are real challenges (that quickly equate to high dollars) associated with lining wool. I'm not expert, but off the top of my head I can imagine different shrink rates, the need fro separate patterns, etc. Teresa does amazing work, but she isn't one of the high dollar automated sewing outfits...she produces her garments by her own hand, right here in Michigan.
I've often thought of sending Theresa a pair of the Duluth firehose pants and have her line them with wool...THAT would be warm! Those pants really stop the wind.
Looking forward to seeing these.
Any new updates on the wool pants ?
I will be ordering some!! Can't wait!
I will be buying few
:campfire:
Bringing this back to the top. Do we have any pictures yet or an estimated date they will be available to the masses?
Hope she can keep up with demand, if they are anything like her other wool clothes I will need a couple pairs by September elk
She is supposed to have some at Compton, maybe some one will get a pic.
Anyone see these at Compton? If so, your thoughts?
Not quite ready yet. Teresa is very particular about what she offers for sale. One of the challenges....getting the pattern "generic" enough so that they will properly fit us misshapen bowhunters. Stand by....
I,m easy to fit! Built like an orangutan, but taller, no orange hair..
We can all make a template for her out of duct tape. Then she could stick it to the wool pattern of choice, cut and sew :bigsmyl:
This thread was started on April 1st. Is this an April fools joke? I hope not! And if she offers them in a light weight wool I will definitely be ordering a pair. Maybe this is why I haven't been able to get ahold of her, she's been working on this new development?

Roger has been involved with this thread from the beginning. It's not a joke.
Hopefully they will have some at GLLI.

No, not a joke.
As far as getting in contact with Teresa, have you called or tried email? They are on the road a bunch during the summer. Let me know what's going on, I can help.
The pants? Still not perfected. And Teresa won't offer them for sale until they are. We didn't jump the gun....we thought the timeline was going to be Compton. We thought for sure they would be available then. But Asbell wool isn't General Motors. There isn't a staff of designers and testers thinking about new products. It's Teresa. And Fred. And guys like me who Teresa tap's for an opinion here and there.
I'm sorry the pants aren't ready. I wish they were.....for my own personal use this coming fall, and for the sales bump that Teresa would receive from them. But lets applaud Teresa and Fred Asbell for NOT releasing a product that they aren't completely finished with. So many vendors (in all industries) lack that integrity today. I think it's awesome.
It is certainly best to not release a product until it is of the standard you wish it to be after being thoroughly tested.
That said, if you need more legs for testing I'm there for ya. :)
36x36, and I do my own stunts!! I,'ll sign a waiver,if you need more testers, and it,s on the hazardous side!!.. :saywhat:
Heck yea, I would be on board for that one. :)

I've tried calling a few times over the last few months. I've been busy myself so I haven't been too diligent. I'm just trying to touch base on an order I placed a few months ago.
No need to appologize about the pants. I'm just glad to hear they're in the works. We've waited this long, we can wait a year to work out the pattern.
Hey Roger, just curious how the new pants are coming along? Do you have any pictures to share yet? The suspense is killing me!!! :coffee: But I'm waiting patiently.
Jason
So what's the deal on the wool pants? Are they ever going to be available?
I talked to Teresa a couple of months ago, and she is still working to make these pants a reality. It will happen when she feels that she is getting them right. I'm confident that when they are ready to go, they will be as good as anything else that the Asbells have for trad hunters.
I am sure that Asbell pants will be just as good a product as everything else Teresa has produced. I just wish that the pants had not been announced until they were closer to being a reality. Patience everyone.
Any news?
Maybe it was an April fool's joke..... :biglaugh:
 I hope.
You can't rush perfection fellas! When they come, they will be spectacular I have no doubt!
Here's my wool pants and shirt Teresa made for me
(http://www.shrewbows.com/rons_linkpics/winterkill.jpg)
picture from 1987 :D
I hope they come out with some kind of wind resistant lining too!
I'm all in, anxious to see the product, 'cause I need a good pair! My Anorak is the "Cats Pajamas!" as my mama used to say.
Melted a short stretch of zipper, was without my jacket for a week while it was gettin replaced. Hadn't quite realized it till then, pretty much my favourite jacket at this point, don't wear it to work, but most everything else..
