Your thoughts on a bow built with the takedown hinge system good or bad. I have never had or even seen a bow with this system and am looking at a longbow that has it...

Are you referring to the one that Jerry Brumm from Great Northern Bow Co uses ( jack knife takedown ) OR the one that Dick Robertson (Robertson Stykbows) & Steve Turay ( Northern Mist Bows) uses ?
I have a Thunder Stick Mag with the Robertson Connexion Hinge and it works well enough. It doesn't make any noise and the limbs stay aligned. However, I much prefer the sleeve system that Big Jim, Black Widow and a host of other bowyers are using now.

I bought a used Mohawk that has the connection hinge.......seems to be solid and so far has given me no problems......I kind of like it.
The screws in a hinge must be tight and must stay tight. I traded for a Northern Mist that made a strange noise when shot. I tried padding where the limbs touched, but not much help. I called Steve and he told me to check the tightness of the screws. One screw was loose by about 1/8 of a turn. I removed the screw and put in a drop of epoxy, then retightened, completely, that screw-noise gone.
Hinge is a great system. You will like as long as it is done right.
Have 3 bows with hinge,.....no problems.
I have a 64" Robertson Purist longbow with the connection hinge and it's one of the quietest longbows that I've ever shot. Rock solid and no noise whatsoever
Am only familiar with the hinge system on the Mohawk. Not only like system, yet enjoy the increased stability by the added physical weight.
Thanks for the info guys , the bow I'm looking at is a Silvertip longbow with the hinge. I like hearing that it is a good system can't wait to get my hands on it and look it over.

I have had several with the Robertson connection, built a couple of other bows with them and still have a Schafer longbow with it. They all worked great.
I had a couple Robertson bows with the hinge and now have 2 Mohawk longbows with them. No problems and work great
