Title: Painted Bear Limbs

I recently purchased a Bear B Mag riser and 2 sets of limbs.  The front face of one of the sets of limbs was painted and I've tried Goo Gone and nail polish remover (acetone) in small areas but without much success....

I've never tried anything like this and I really don't want to ruin these limbs but I'm tempted to wet sand...I thought I'd start with something in the 400 - 600 grit range and work up to 800 - 1000 grit.

Any advice, tips or warnings?

Try some lacquer thinner and 000 steel wool, go very slowly with light pressure.

I have always had good luck using my finger nails

Many years ago I had your issue. It turns out the limbs had been painted with exterior latex house paint. It was the paint of choice the bow shop owner used. I ended up importing a bottle of "Lestoil" house cleaning solution. BUT it took off the clear coat. Had to send limbs back to maker for refinish.
Maybe someone here has been successful removing this type of paint without ruining the finish?

Whatever paint they used on these limbs appears to have been brushed on as well....I've tried Goo Gone and some of my wife's fingernail polish remover in small spots but don't like the results so far.  

I plan to try mineral spirits and then maybe paint thinner before wet sanding.
