In the past month or so, I got into a pair of good trades with fellow 'Gangers. First I got a great Palmer Carbon TD in a trade with Bowwalker. A super guy to work a deal with.
And today, my mailman delivered my second package. An Appalachian flatbow and a selfbow from Steve Nuckels. Another great guy to deal with and a heck of a bowyer, IMO. I'd been looking for an Appy flatbow and recurve to go with my longbow for several years and I finally found the flatbow. Plus, Steve's selfbow is some of the best work I've had the pleasure of holding in my two sweaty mitts. Now, I'm no selfbow expert, but I looked it over carefully, and couldn't find anything on it that wasn't "just right". Great attention to detail and another great 'Ganger to deal with.
Gentlemen, my thanks to both of you and have a safe and enjoyable hunting season.
Kevin
Good job guys!! Keep up the good work.
Hey Kevin, sounds good but lets see some pics. :bigsmyl:
Dave,
I just got back in from my stand, and I need to read the picture posting instructions again. No deer this afternoon, but I did have a small bear slip throuth the trees about 40yds away.
I think I understand how to post pics........
Here's the Palmer strung profile

Nice! Kinda like Lay's potato chips, you can't stop with just one. :biglaugh: I went this morning and didn't see any while on stand. I hope to get one soon but just enjoy being there.
Dave,
That Appalachian LB is the one I started trad shooting with, back in Huntington. Now that I've found an Appy flatbow, I need to find one of Dave Guthrie's recurves to complete the set. The flatbow put 3 arrows in 3" @ 20yds the first time I shot it. Goes right where you're looking, just like the longbow.
I'm still a rookie. When I go to 20 yards they spread out farther than that but I'm coming around with my Morrison.
Kevin, that's a nice collection you have. I've got a feeling I will adding one or two down the road.
Dave,
Knowing you, I foresee a couple or three more fairly soon. I'm the same way on bows, bamboo flyrods, and flintlocks.
Kevin, Very nice pics Bro. Man I love that Palmer! And congrats on the Robin Hood! I might want that bow back! LOL
Steve AKA Tillerboy
Pics are great. I am back on target with the Tarbell recurve. Going hunting Monday and Tuesday.
