...so yesterday was my birthday! and today, just few minutes ago, after waiting for several months, I received something in the mail.
....anyone care to guess what's in the box?
New shoes? :)
10 piece take-down bow! ;)
very Close >LongbowArchitect!
yep.... very very special short bow!!
35inch string length.
AMO38!!
here's how it looks strung. comparing against my other shorties. string length 46", 40", and 35" from left to right.
Very special to me,
"Little Suckling 38 Special"!!
what in the world is that?
max draw length?
That one on the left looks wild!!
HI Daniel, I'll be in touch with you to get couple of strings made :)
the one on the left is "Todd Scherrinsky 48" aka "Problem Child". detail from here on that bow. (http://tradgang.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=147955#000000)
here's how it looks on my DL.
Max Draw length on 38 special is 28" (I think). my DL is 27" so no problem and doesn't feel stacking up at that length (like I felt with some shorties I've had chance to use in the past).
I need me one of those!!
here's video of shots being taken for the first time out of the box with no tuning.
took a shot from 12yds. result is good enough for me.
some more photos.
very very cool bow!

Wow, that's a crazy looking bow. Cool riser design.
I thought it was the top part of one of them there crossbow thingies????
Holy cow Ted........your nuts..... :biglaugh: , and Happy Birthday.
Happy Birthday Ted. Are you going to bring it to the meeting on Saturday?
Thanks Ron! and yes I figured out that I am nuts. but its fun being honest about what I like :) even if my preferences (not just bows) are off the norm!
Hi Ken,
Thank you!
I can't make it for next meeting, wish I could, but saturdays are really difficult to get out.
I'll definitely bring it to the stumping on 4/16th! though, I can get that day off from work.

How does it compare to rodney wrights stalker in the middle?
hunthold
Wright Stalker Recurve feels sturdier. but it is bit more violent on release. which is strange as stalker is 52#@27, while 38sp is 59#@28 (comparable?)
my personal impression is that 38 special is a lot easier to shoot then stalker recurve.

That is so cool! Happy birthday
Cool stuff ted. sorry I will miss you on Saturday but hopefully i will make the stump shoot.
I can tell you like short things. Your shirt is a tad on the short side when you come to full draw :smileystooges: :biglaugh:
Happy Birthday!

John builds Great Bows smooth, Quiet ,stable and quick !!
I'd love to try that out. I usually shoot a 66" recurve, it would sure be different.
Looks really cool!
That's neat. Different. Cool though.
Crazy, I have issues under 60", how does it shoot?
rraming>
>how does it shoot?
well enough for me. that is, I can shoot longer bow equally badly. ;)
Those are cool I Havnt seen one in a long while. Enjoy! Love shorties myself
Did Cupid sign it ?
Seriously. ...those r cool little bows...and could be of service in some places I've stalked. Never shot one but would love to
Would be a good candidate for the two finger draw technique
Had never heard of Little Suckling bows until a bud went lion hunting this past Feb. in Idaho. His outfitter had two and let him shoot both. I believe they were both 44"s. He and his nephew have just put down deposits on one. Even he was amazed when I showed him pics of the "38 Special". I too would love to put a few through one.
Got word back from John. the maximum DL that he recommends is 28" for 38special.
KT/JT-44 is famous, but that's not all he makes.
If anyone wants longer bow, he also makes bows that are 50" or over. (I think he said he has 54"). not many of those floating around so anyone is interested in unique/rare bow, I think that's a pretty good option.

now that you mentioned it, it really could be cupids bow isn't it. too bad it's the middle aged bold headed asian behind the arrow.

I have found quasi-split (with index finger just touching the arrow, finger still on the string but not pulling )work well with this bow. compared to other shorties I own, this is the most forgiving of all.

it is FUN bow to shoot. I envy your friend that he was able to try out the kt44 before ordering. I'm sure he will be happy when he does get his bow. It is well worth the wait.
