My new Blacktail. Macassar ebony and Myrtle.
Are the guys east of the Mississippi making it or is Norm? Either way, I'm certain it will be beautiful.
Did someone say Bocote and Cocobolo:

She darkened down over the years:

:clapper:
nice!!!
Did you see the one on their site for $9,700.00? And someone will probably buy it.
highlow,
It is $9,750.00
If it was $9,700.00 I'd have been all over it :D
I have to admit though, the anniversary bow is truly a work of art.
10 grand for wood and fiberglass ---- really?
Nice bows. But, come on.
I guess it's your money ,eh.
Beautiful bows!!!!

I'm sure you could buy the wood, fiberglass and epoxy for a lot less. Then put it together and carve it yourself. Save a huge amount of money.

Functionally, I understand where you are coming from, however in the case of Norms high price tag bows you're really talking more about a piece of artwork than just a hunting tool. These are a niche product for aficionados/the certifiably obsessed. The same argument applies to a Mustang vs a Ferrari.
Congrats on your Blacktail in waiting. I'm confident you will be pleased. I don't know how to send pics. :(
However, mine I Cocobola/stained myrtle.....absolutely stunning!

Exactly my thoughts Chuck! A friend and I were talking about the Anniv. Blacktail this morning. The person who buys it, can afford it, and sees the artwork- not just a bow.
From what I understand, the person who does Blacktail's engraving work is in Italy, and also does jewelry for the Pope. There is a ton of time put in to those bows!
The first Blacktail I bought was 1500.00. I was so pleased with it that I worked up my once in a life time bow. Called Blacktail placed the order 3700.00 and 9 mos. later she came to my home. been in love with them ever sense.

You got a picture of that bad boy?
All the rest are very nice to.
I love to look at those bows on the Blacktail website. I stroll over every couple of days to see what's up. Even the standard is beautiful. The T2s better, and the Legacy bows are amazing.
Sticker shock gets me more when, after buying too many bows, I'm in the diamond store for my wife of 38 years. She is far more deserving than I will ever be but those tiny specs of shiny are very $$$!
I say good for the guys that have the resources and the eye for beautiful bows.
First picture is my latest T2, 58" Australian Corrugate Burl and Macassar Ebony riser with Myrle limb veneers. Very dense wood combo (heavy).

This is a poor picture of the Sitka but it is a 56" bow. The couple who know me will know who stayed in the small tent in the background. This was an Idaho hunt last June. My bear was rubbed.

Roy, that bow of yours is a true beauty! I'm already contemplating another Blacktail!!
I've had my Blacktail for 10 years now. Guys used to say..."I'd be afraid to hunt with a bow THAT nice!". But I bought it to hunt with and not hang on my wall. The best hunting bow I've ever had in my hands. Bocote and Cocobolo.

Mine is a 64" and 60# @ 29". You'll love the new bow! The Bocote on mine has darkened over the years.
I guess I need to take a better look at that thing next time I see it?? I didn't realize it was purdy and a killing machine? :archer2:
Life is too short To hunt with an hugly bow!
Doesn't matter how beautiful my bow can be it is a weapon and I use it. It will survive me anyway.
Richard (atatarpm) e-mailed me some pictures, and I thought I would post them up for him. It is a very nice looking bow.

Yes...the $9,750.00 number is perplexing.?? I come from the world of custom flintlocks. For 35 +years. A custom long rifle in that category are getting into rare air. There are some, but not a lot.! 5 G's on a bow would be considerable! However, anything is worth on any given day what someone is willing to pay..jmo...BTW....the silver and wire inlay on that custom bow are very well done?? As was the carving. Perhaps I'm being a little to critical on my estimation.....nice.....
I know Blacktails are nice but My Wes Wallace will run with the best of them in looks and performance at a fraction of the cost Just saying. Oh, I do like the colors and lines of that W. Wallace too.

Here is my 60" Sitka, 58#@30". The woods are Rosewood and Wenge in the riser and reverse footed Wenge and Myrtle in the limbs. The woods are just getting better with age!
This was my first custom bow built for me. It's got my name on it and will be in the family hopefully many years after I am gone...
Guess that didn't work... Let's try it again.

My blacktail elite vl:
https://www.flickr.com/photos/141858910@N04/sets/72157669889506246
Thats a beauty Snag! I ordered a new one sight unseen a few years back. Shot great and the performance was good. Sold it a couple months later. I prefer the small riser three pieces and the Blacktail risers are pretty beefy. That and I wasn't crazy about how the woods turned out.
Just goes to show you that you should always shoot a bow before ordering one. Even a great bow may not suit you.
You broke the money box .... :)
I'm glad I got my Elite VL back before the prices went through the roof.
I bought mine used a few years ago. Money very well spent. The one on the right. Don't remember the wood, but it is a very good, consistent shooter in no small part due to the repeatability of the grip.

My Snakebit I had made several years back. My only regret is that I wish I had had it made a 62" instead of a 60". I recently purchased an older one piece Blacktail in 62".

Blacktail isn't using snakewood anymore, don't let that bow go! You could get additional limbs made for it, or sell it to me:)
Does anyone have the 3 Pc Longbow yet? I'm starting to drool over them.
As per request photos of my new Sitka T2. Love this bow and it shoots as well as it looks.

Wow, this thread is great!
Those bows are stunning!
Myrtle with WHAT in the riser?
I love this bow! If I ever get another custom bow built it will be with B&W Ebony........
